Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said during the Texas Tribune Festival this week that it would be a danger to reelect former President Donald Trump and that the Republican Party is sliding towards an “autocracy.”
Manchin spoke with Evan Smith, the cofounder and senior adviser for the Texas Tribune, about why he has not flirted with becoming a Republican as he continues to ponder if he should run for reelection or run for president as an independent.
After giving his critique of the Democrat party, he said that he has many dear friends in the Republican Party; however, he lamented the GOP is becoming “drawn” to Trump and “engulfed” in his and the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.

Nobody in the the run have done anything as good as Trump has they have a shallow record.
If an independent is elected it’s a wasted vote they will get heat from both sides zero gain we will be stuck where we are at now.

My guess is that an independent Manchin run would knock the wind out of any prog Rat candidate, particularly if that ‘Rat is Jao Beidan. Would take a few away from President Trump, but the damage to the ‘Rat would be brutal.
Oh also remember when Trump’s presidency was sabotaged by a fake Russian collusion narrative?
Remember when he was impeached for questioning Hunter and Joe Biden’s efforts to fire a Ukrainian investigator?
Remember when Trump had his home raided by the FBI and photos taken of documents in an obvious theater meant to portray his slovenly leaving them “lying around” in his mansion?
Remember when he was falsely prosecuted for federal crimes not in federal jurisdictions?
Remember when Trump Organization was recently declared defunct?
These are just a few examples where the state has been the authoritarian actors.
