WASHINGTON -- Campaigning in Iowa this year, Donald Trump said he was prevented during his presidency from using the military to quell violence in primarily Democratic cities and states.
Calling New York City and Chicago “crime dens,” the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination told his audience, “The next time, I’m not waiting. One of the things I did was let them run it and we’re going to show how bad a job they do,” he said. “Well, we did that. We don’t have to wait any longer.”
Trump has not spelled out precisely how he might use the military during a second term, although he and his advisers have suggested they would have wide latitude to call up units. While deploying the military regularly within the country's borders would be a departure from tradition, the former president already has signaled an aggressive agenda if he wins, from mass deportations to travel bans imposed on certain Muslim-majority countries.

I cannot lie and say this kind of talk doesn’t raise concerns, but if I am looking at the direction of this nation and the blue cities...it just might be needed.
Liberals will be sounding the wrongful imprisonment sirens next though...and raising money for their side to deal with all these legal shenanigans.
I don’t think the military or any Federal funds should ever be used to “quell violence in democrat cities and states”, they wanted it, they voted for it, they own it, let them keep it.
Depends how bad it gets, if turf wars start crossing state lines this may be a serious possibility. I really think it would be more to boost policing efforts temporarily.
I don’t see the police doing much of anything except arrest a few but then they’re out before the cops can have a second cup of coffee.
This violates the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.
The National Guard can be involved but not the Military.
Why would the military investigate a club they are a member of?
Like in Revolutionary France, Bolshevik Russia, Mao’s China, Castro’s Cuba, etc. and a myriad of other places where utopian solutions have been tried!
What makes you think the military that performed so well in the Afghanistan withdrawal, now is LBGT compliant, has their pronouns right will be an honorable arbitrator of justice? I guess it will be the military of your imagination!

Bad idea. If Trump uses the US military domestically, the next Democrat president will be emboldened to do the same. And you can be sure that Democrat will not have the best interests of America at heart.
So if there is trouble in, say, New York City call out the New York National Guard.
The only exception is guarding the nation’s borders. That’s where the military belongs. And that’s where it isn’t.
It would certainly be a double edged sword, the democrats would use the military against us for sure, given an excuse to do so.

I’d like to see 12-15 month enlistments. Get them right out of HS and serve for a year or so in time to start school in the fall at age 19 or so. No technical training, just infantry. They can serve here or in Iraq. What’s in it for them? A $2k IRA and a lot of financial advice every step of the way.
When their enlistment is up make sure more universities are turned into technical trade schools. Americorp was started to turn the young into leftists. Same with. the Peace Corps. A short, one year service would be tolerable. Just don’t give them too many veteran benefits. An IRA would do.
So ABC News will helpfully make up some options to scare their ignorant AF news consumers.
LBJ did not hesitate to deploy the military for the riots of the 1960’s, JFK sent the military to enforce integration, protect civil rights protesters.
And Ike deployed paratroopers to Little Rock to integrate the high school in 1957.
There are precedents.
