Loose Lips Sinks Ships
Free Republic | 09/15/01 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 09/15/2001 6:59:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Lots of grumbling lately about deleted posts. Well, my friends, the simple truth is the game has changed. We are now at war. We have been attacked by a vicious cold-blooded force of international terrorists who want to destroy our nation, our freedom and our way of life. There is no doubt about this. Knowing this, I am alarmed to read some of the stuff that has been posted to FR in the last few days. This is not the time to raise doubts about our leaders. This is not the time to raise conspiracy theories. This is not the time to second guess our intelligence agencies. This is war. This is survival of our way of life. We must unite behind our Commander-in-chief and do all we possibly can to support him and our war efforts. We do not have a choice in this matter. The terrorists who attack us do so without warning and without mercy. They do not want peace. They do not want to co-exist. They do not want appeasement or negotiation. They want to destroy us. They want to destroy our way of life. They want to destroy our freedom. They want to destroy our nation. They have no conscience, no respect for life, no compassion and will give no quarter. Death of the USA is what they seek.

Many of us on Free Republic are veterans or have family members who are veterans or who are currently serving in the military. We have each sworn a solemn oath to defend our Constitution and our nation. We will not waver in the face of adversity and we will not shirk our responsibility or fail to do our duty. Regardless of our political differences, we will join together to support our nation and to crush our common enemy.

All of us can help out. There will be opportunities coming for volunteers for all sorts of wartime activities. There will be opportunities to help our men and women in uniform, our civil defense efforts, our war production efforts, giving blood, buying war bonds, cooperating if there are shortages, supporting our leaders and generally supporting the war effort.

There will also be precautionary measures. First and foremost on this forum and elsewhere is to respect the fact that we deal in political information. Many of us may personally gain access to sensitive information that could harm our military or our war efforts if it falls into the wrong hands. If you live or work in an area where you may learn of troop movements or war plans or if you have family members or friends who may have access to this information, please do not spread it around. We will be on the lookout for any "Loose Lips" info and will delete it when spotted on this forum. Now, information that is already printed in the newspapers may or may not fall into this category. Usually, published information is fair game to post. But, please be careful in what discussions may follow.

Also, as I said above, it is essential for all of us to unite behind our President. Now is not the time to seek political advantage. Now is not the time to raise doubts about our government or our military, and now is not the time to post conspiracy theory or to engage in smear attacks. And, no, my finely feathered, tinfoil-hatted friends, we did not do this to ourselves. The U.S. government did not start this war. We were victims of an unprecedented, pre-meditated surprise attack, perpetrated by hostile, cowardly foreign parties. This attack may not have been in the military scale and scope of a Pearl Harbor, but in terms of lives lost and impact on the nation and the world it is every bit as severe.

Even so, we have confidence. We know that our nation is the strongest in the world and that our people are resolved to do whatever it takes to win. We've done it before and we will do it again. This is our heritage. Securing the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity in the tradition of our forefathers is our duty and obligation. And I have faith that with God's blessings, we will rid the world of this evil threat.

God bless you all and God bless America.

Regards,

Jim Robinson

wish someone would change the tone and start calling this a War on Terrorism. This is what is and defines it better

They were deleted just to annoy you.

ROTFLMAO

Won't voice my concerns with the subject of this thread just yet. GWB and the USA have my full support, sacrificing my civil liberties does not. "Sacrificing some freedoms for more security," as I've heard many on TV mention, dishonors the casualties of the 11th and gives a win to the terrorists.

First, John:

Undeniable truth of life #1: Humanity has been in a perpetual state of war since the first man tried to do it with another man's woman, sometime back when making fire was considered the peak of technology. War is not a product of any one ideology, nor has there ever been a time of peace since the very first threat any man made against another.

Our first deployment should be Bill and Hill let them do their little protest act like they did in the Vietnam War now that they have finally brought it to our shores. It is not the economy stupid it is those liberals who started all this peacenik crap in the Vietnam War.Unfortunately its called Payday Someday!

I only pretended to be annoyed. It would take something like a force-fed diet of posts from the FRillage idiot Jaxter to achieve this goal!

Re: #200 - I only copied in Jim with my response to Arator because Arator implicated both Jim & I as having the same philosophy as the terrorists. I hope that clears things up for you.

"As far as "our side" and "their side" are concerned, I would remind you that it is often that case that both warring factions are wrong. The Nazis fought the Bolsheviks - were you on one side as opposed to the other? I'm on the side of reason, and will conduct myself accordingly."

So, you're saying that the US is as bad as the terrorists? Because if you are you should pack up and move out ASAP. I'd recommend Canada. It would be a nice safe place to read your pacifist books and they have a history of harboring those that don't have the intestinal fortitude to fight for their country.I hate nazis and bolsheviks and believe that we should have listened to Patton.

"I don't remember complaining about that. We have lost 500+ people so I don't think you have a monopoly on grief."

Then what is your point? You've done nothing on this thread but insult Americans in general, and several, including myself and Jim Robinson, in particular. You've lost 500? Well, we'll root out and kill the perps for you. I doubt Tony Blair has the steel that Maggie Thatcher did, so we'll probably not get much help from the likes of you. So you'll just have to excuse Jim Robinson when he pulls threads that he feels might hurt our (not your) national security. It's his website and if it had been me, I'd have pulled your ticket 2 seconds after you called him a "book burner".

Thank you, Jim. You and your staff have more wisdom and courage than a lot of folks; hopefully you are blessed with serenity. Thomas Jefferson had this to say about his media -- it hasn't changed in almost 200 years:

"Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle."

This attack may not have been in the military scale and scope of a Pearl Harbor, but in terms of lives lost and impact on the nation and the world it is every bit as severe.

Total killed at Pearl Harbor were 2,330.

Total killed or missing in the World Trade Center are 4,763. Total killed or missing at the Pentagon are 190. Total killed on board the four aircraft are 266. Grand total 5,219.

In terms of property damage in constant dollars (that are adjusted for inflation), try to correlate the following losses. At Pearl Harbor, we lost two battleships, one very old battleship that had been converted into a target ship, one oiler and one repair ship. Three more battleships, a cruiser and two destroyers were damaged, but repaired and returned to action. We also lost over 100 aircraft, nearly all of them single-engined.

On Tuesday we lost the World Trade Center's twin towers and six other buildings in lower Manhattan. The Pentagon and several other New York buildings have been damaged but are returning to full operational capacity -- in the case of the Pentagon, they were up and running very quickly but it may take a few months to repair the damage. We also lost four large-capacity intercontinental airliners.

I strongly urge all freepers, and all media reporters lurking on these threads, to KEEP YOUR MOUTHS SHUT about any military or intelligence related activity by America and her allies. Don't assume that the information will never get back to the terrorists. Their sympathizers from around the world are definitely swarming all over this site and many other discussion sites.

Right now, we want to hear about it after the fact ... after they have delivered their ordnance payloads to their targets.

I certainly did not insult Jim, but merely engaged in some late night banter. You, on the other hand, are a different kettle of fish entirely. If you had your grubby little paws on Jim's trainset there wouldn't be any posters left.

And the insults seemed to be flying from your direction (eg anti-American puke).

Britain has always supported the USA in conflicts so your unpleasant remarks about Blair are unwarranted.
