Re #30: Thanks for a little perspective Dan. GW the best ever? Good heavens, by what standard? (BTW, I concur w/ your worst list, though there are so many easy targets).

Great speeches do not a great president...make.

I hear Hitler was a great speaker.

No...actions speak much louder than words.

I'm done for now, as I realize the length of this post will render it unreadable Unreadable? That is the only thing I disagree with in your post.

He knows how to salute his troops (Watch him the next time he gets off the Helicopter at the Whitehouse) I always do and it gives me chills! .. he stops to sing "God Bless America" when shaking hands in a crowd. Often with tears in his eyes and a heavy heart for the burden we all face. God certainly blessed this country by giving us the best man to lead us during these trying times. Even albore supporters are echoing our sentiments.

I dispute your choice of words.
"Bush will go down" as a fair to average president"

GREAT POINT!! Bush is a lousy public speaker, in my opinion, not that it matters any. WHAT he says is sincere. I wonder how many algore supporters are still fighting to have algore as president now.

Bill Clinton had popularity and a deceptive kind of charisma. Popularity is fickle, changing like the weather. And I dare say nothing that Bill Clinton ever said could have been called inspiring. On the other hand, Bush might not exude that kind of raw charisma, but the sincerity that is so evident in all that he does and says is truly endearing AND inspiring. These are qualities of greatness and they are enduring. History may or may not consider him one of the greatest; that has yet to be seen, but I do believe he will go down as one of the most beloved.

We really respect him. Just wanted to thank you for understanding our feelings about this man.

We have the privilege of going on Military Bases. When we do, we constantly thank our troops for serving. Because we are both retired military, (I only served 4 years, but my husband retired after 26) we talk to the troops. They are very happy to be serving under this Presidents Command. That is so important...and seems to be something people "didn't get" during the last two terms preceeding President Bush's election.

I can tell you guys "get it". I know a lot of people do.

We share something in common, our respect and admiration of our President.

Someone up above this post, said it quite well. It was something about how Hitler was a great speaker. Poignant!! Succinct, and poignant!

Now to undo the damage done for 8 years. To restore this country back to what was FINALLY happening after Presidents Reagan and Bush. President Bush is the right man at the right time. He is in our prayers DAILY!!

God Bless America and her troops,... and God Bless our President!!

FRegards

You got me pegged wrong i think. I, unlike this poster, do not spew any form of hate. Dr. Laura can say whatever she wishes on her radio show, the Boy Scouts are a fine, PRIVATE organization and they can let in whomever they want, Falwell can say whatever he wants as well. People who don't like it can change the channel or not join up! But we want LESS government here, not more. We should not be issuing and edict to our President calling on him to denounce part of the population. I give you all the freedom in the world to do and believe what you wish. Just don't come knocking on my door asking me to subscribe. Don't ask the gov't to come calling either. That's when I will get a little upset. Cheers.

", but I do believe he will go down as one of the most beloved."

Personally, I don't think so. I guess that is something we will have to leave to the people who write the history books.

I love Dubya! But I don't think he's a great public speaker.

If that's true, how come I end up crying during almost every one of his speeches?

Just the sincerity factor makes him an exceptional speaker, IMHO. While I loved Ronald Reagan and thought he was just wonderful, the trying times that we are going through right now and with the way that I think President Bush is going to handle things, he's going to be my choice for the best American president ever, I am sure. I just love this man for his obvious love of country, the way he doesn't do a poll first to decide his position on issues, and his faith in God.

George W. Bush is a good president but can you in all sincerity really claim that he is a better president than the great Chester A. Arthur?

As far as homosexuals go I don't believe that President Bush would ever put them in a position to preach their crap.

I heard a story about him when he was campaigning that I thought was absolutely perfect. When he was asked what he thought about homosexuality, he put his arm around the questioner and said, "We're all sinners, friend."

What a wonderful response, and so typical of W! With love, he acknowledged that homosexuality is indeed a sin, but that the sinner is not to be hated. A few people in our midst need to make that very Biblical distinction.

I do too, mtngrl! And I believe it's because he speaks so clearly from the heart, and echoes Biblical truths in almost every speech! I believe that many of us can sense that he is being used by God to bring the nation through this darkness, and we are moved by that. What he says means something! The "Bush is a rotten speaker" garbage went down the drain with the "Bush is dumb and incompetent" media propaganda.

I also vote aye to the "one of the greatest ever" question!!

one of the most precious American strengths we need to defend this country is to rally behind the man in office.

If you really believed that, you wouldn't call our President "Shrub" or "dude." Your insulting names belie your claim of patriotism and loyalty.
