Sources say investigators are eyeing a number of groups, including radical members of a pagan cult.

The Wiccan group fashions itself as modern-day witches seeking religious freedom, but they are not known to be violent.

Investigators are probing whether a disturbed member of the group may have taken a bizarre turn and is targeting the media and the government in particular

Don't know about train, but that area loaded with mass transit busses going to Trenton, Philly, NYC, Newark, Atlantic City..

I checked the NJTransit website to see if there was a station named "Franklin Park." Didn't see one (closest station to Franklin Park is named Jersey Ave.); but Franklin Park is located right along the Trenton - Newark track line.

Two men taken from the Greenwood Village Garden Apartments by FBI agents Monday are being held by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, an FBI spokeswoman said yesterday.

The men, who have not been charged by the FBI in connection with any terrorist investigation, were taken from the upstairs apartment at 228 Norman Court in handcuffs, a neighbor said.

Tuesday, a day later, FBI agents removed about 10 garbage bags of unknown materials from the apartment, a Greenwood official

said. The apartment official, who requested anonymity, also said FBI agents took a photocopy of the lease of one apartment resident, Asif Khan.

Actually, you are kidding about that but I have seen a few signs that it might be real. John Doe #2, who was with Tim McVeigh getting the Ryder truck, was described as Middle Eastern looking, and there are persistant rumors that bin Ladin gave the OKC bombing some help. Also, NeoNazi web sites have been on record as happy that many Jews were killed in the WTC bombing, and praising the activities of Al Queda. It's an enemy-of-my-enemy thing. I would not be surprised if the farthest-out groups became friendly with Al Queda. The more 'mainstream' militia-types, obviously, will totally reject the diaperheads, but the super-fringe of the fringe will not.

Exactly. Station names often depend on local knowledge. For example, Glen Street is a much better stop on Long Island Railroad for local residents than Glen Cove station, in Glen Cove, NY.

More I think about it, this one just "feels" like a "good case."

Samwise, same here for junk mail. But I'll read my magazines probably--especially my favorite, Insight, which has none of those pesky perfumed inserts that make me sneeze. But if I lived in a large population center, I don't think I'd buy one off the newsstand. Especially in the NY/NJ area, which almost seems to be a center for this, doesn't it? I'm starting to think it's either one person, or one smallish cell at work here--and that maybe we can even figure out who he or they are, and put a stop to it. If so, it will be one down, but how many more to go?

But they are following up, if belatedly. This is the FBI who are pursuing the handwriting angle.

It's true the FBI seemed to want to dissociate the hijackers from the anthrax culprits. It took the Wall Street Journal's discovery in these guys' apartment of several magazine articles related to bio-warfare to get the FBI to go back and re-check that apartment. And presumably to test it for spores.

Has this story been in the national press? I haven't seen it. You would think they would be all over a story which might point to the perps of the anthrax murders. It is the number one story in people's minds, even more important than the course of the war in Afghanistan.

I heard someone on TV say the letters were very slightly different. Wish I could remember who.

But just 'cause it was on TV doesn't make it true.

I am sorry for sounding "cute" to you, but I am sick of our PC hamstrung Inspector Cleuseus at the FBI dropping vital glaring leads ever since at least the murder of Kahane in NYC by a member of Al Quaida 11 years ago ("he was a lone gunman, nothing to see here, let's move on") through the WTC #1 bombing etc etc etc.

they are telling us to “take our penicillin” - which we have been doing -- by the thousands I might add. Think about thousands of citizens taking cipro unnecessarily - when the major attack occurs the penicillin won’t work

I've wondered about that too. But would the anthrax bacteria have time to mutate into a penicillin resistant strain? Guess it depends on how long before the "major attack" were to take place.

Also, to be effective, this plan would be dependent on very large segments of the population taking antibiotics. I hope we're not there yet.
