Bin Laden: Attack on US to Stop Support for Israel
Reuters ^

Posted on 12/26/2001 12:38:08 PM PST by madrussian

LONDON (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden (news - web sites), the world's most wanted man, said on a video broadcast by al-Jazeera satellite television on Wednesday that the September 11 suicide attacks were intended to stop U.S. support for Israel.

``Our terrorism against the United States is worthy of praise to deter the oppressor so that America stop its support for Israel, which is killing our children,'' the bearded, Saudi-born fugitive said.

He added that the tape was being issued to mark about three months since the attacks on New York and Washington and two months after the United States began its bombing of Afghan targets.

The remarks indicated the tape was recorded in early to mid December.

Looking tired but calm, bin Laden was dressed in a clean, camouflage-patterned combat jacket. He sat against a cloth or canvas screen, his Russian-designed submachinegun propped beside him. There was no indication where he was when he recorded the video.

All you've proven from your post is that you're a creep who shares Bin Laden's point of view.

I said in 1998, not 1997. So back peddle that...

You say Israel is the sole cause…

Poland was the sole desire of Hitler's…

Whatever…

Only if your point was that you were an ignorant troll who was unable to even make a connection between his post and what he was responding to. Yeah, and go buy a dictionary.

In your world he changed his mind one year later. Then read the polls and used that "canard" again. He doesn't have to read any polls, because Israel is disliked by the whole muslim world.

Why is it so important to you? Ah, you said whatever.

You'd need to try to expand to be taken seriously. Every fool can utter silliness.

"You'd need to try to expand to be taken seriously. Every fool can utter silliness."

But it takes a malicious fool to argue that a statement made by a terrorist leader 2 months after the 9/11 act proves that Israel is *the* cause of the act.

There is a big difference between a cause and rallying point. Israel is not the root cause of friction between Islam and the west. It's simply not that significant. It is a convenient banner for the Arab world - one that some fools in the West seem all too happy to embrace. What is the root cause you may ask? An overwhelming sense of Islamic/Arab inferiority in the face of the West. Israel didn't cause that.

There's a whole 50+ year history that people have repeated over and over in this forum. A lot of us are blue in the face pointing out straightforward facts such as it was the Arab countries who overran Palestine in 1948, that they were the aggressors in 1967 and on and on.

While a lot of people get it - it doesn't seem to stop weeds like you from popping up who thrive on the compost of ignorance.

I cite your posting of this thread as an example of your twisted logic. On another thread - you project a pious alarm over "rationalizations" that Israel may resort to nuclear weapons if it faces anihilation. Who'se going to protect them, you?

Being that you are representative of a small distasteful crowd, I feel compelled to respond to you. You and the specific points you raise merit little attention otherwise.

Thanks for a post that points a finger a one of the mass murderers of our time. The constant emphasis on nasty Hitler has overshadowed other monstrous crimes against civilization.

You'd have to work hard to find a statement that Israel is *the* cause. It's only one of the causes why the Arabs, and muslims in general, are pissed. Leave your psychobabble about "feeling inferior" alone, it's weak and you know it.

America should take a stand and stand firm on the issues and causes that it believes are fundamentally righteous and are of importance to the people of America. If you think you can get away with the usual brain-dead "Israel is our only true friend and only democracy", you are wrong, or if you think you can declare the Arabs blood-thirsty untermenschen, the way the Nazis portrayed the Jews, then you are insulting my and other posters' intelligence.

Try again, bigot.

"Waiting for a spin of the Israel-firsters of their "it had nothing to do with Israel".

And it took Bin Laden a whole of three months to figure that out.

Tell you what you go to my thread here where Bin Laden says "You are ordered to kill until nonbelievers swear allegiance to Allah" put your spin on it and get back to me. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/596917/posts

When Bin Laden faces the West he blames Israel. When he thinks no one is watching he says "You are ordered to kill until nonbelievers swear allegiance to Allah".

"Bin laden has made it very clear that three things bug him- 1. US support for Israel. 2. US troops in saudi Arabia. 3. US sanctions against Iraq. Yet some people insist on playing amateur psychoanalyst and claiming that his motivation is something else. Go figure."

And Bill Clinton made it very clear that he did not have sexual relations with that woman. Has it occured to you that maybe Bin Laden is a liar? Go figure

Why is it so important to me?

Because I'm an American and America has been attacked. You and your ilk claim that we were attacked because of our support for Israel. That if only we would drop the support for Israel there would be peace… It is a lie. We would still be the "Great Satan" and we would still be attacked. Islam is incompatible with our constitution and our culture. The only difference would be Israel would cease to exist.

Islam today is a fascist organization with fascist goals of world domination. I will not appease, I will not submit.

First, I haven't made that claim, second, since as you claim Osama's motives aren't important, why are you spending any time trying to prove that Osama's motives didn't include Israel?

You are trying to prove that what Osama says (to the West as you say) is insincere, by pointing out to what he says. I say that from what your heard him saying on a particular occasion doesn't prove that what he says on another occasion (to the West as you say) is insincere.

Also, I've read many times here that all Arabs and muslims in general hate Israel and dream about how to destroy it, and then the same people say that Osama couldn't possibly use that as a rallying cry (internally, not to the West, as you say), or that Osama is somehow immune to this reportedly universal Arab, and muslim in general, desease of Jew-hating.

[On Israel]:
"America should have changed its policy a long time ago. Whether "Osama alegedly wants" it, is irrelevant.

Then why'd you even start this thread. You just admitted that it is completely irrelevantr.

If you read a couple hundred posts (sorry you have to wade through all that irrelevant crap), I believe I posted why I was motivated.

In short, there have been obvious attempts, both on FR and in the media, to claim that Osama's motives didn't involve Israel. And as you see, some people still insist on that. A fair question then why is that so important to them and why do they try to misrepresent facts and how that affects their credibility, especially in the context of them being cheerleaders for the expansion of the war on terrorism.

"You'd have to work hard to find a statement that Israel is *the* cause. It's only one of the causes why the Arabs, and muslims in general, are pissed."

So why is there such a vocal crowd that insists that the world would be so much better off if we dropped our support of Israel?

"Leave your psychobabble about "feeling inferior" alone, it's weak and you know it."

No, actually I don't know that it's weak at all. And you aren't convincing me with your feeble attempts at mindreading either. The more a group strains to convey it's unity, pride, accomplishments or whatever, the more suspicious I get. Often, those suspicions are justified. Comes from living all my life in America.

"America should take a stand and stand firm on the issues and causes that it believes are fundamentally righteous and are of importance to the people of America."

I agree, but it's a truism. No doubt intended to set the reader up for some garbage to follow.

"If you think you can get away with the usual brain-dead "Israel is our only true friend and only democracy", you are wrong, or if you think you can declare the Arabs blood-thirsty untermenschen, the way the Nazis portrayed the Jews, then you are insulting my and other posters' intelligence."

Ah, and here it is. First, the argument you bring up - while I personally haven't used it on this forum - it is valid as one of *many* reasons why America should support Israel. Second, I apologize that I don't know German but I think I get your point. You seem to be mad because I called you down on some of your attempts at spreading distortions.

By the way, your statement "America should take a stand and stand firm on the issues and causes that it believes are fundamentally righteous and are of importance to the people of America." is trivially true as I noted but bears no logical relation to what follows. It is the sort of ploy that manipulative Leftists use - a valid but irrelevant premise.

You're not a Leftist, are you?

America has to completely oppose whatever Bin Ladin or any other Islamist wants so we can show them who's the real boss - the nation of Israel.

So why is there such a vocal crowd that insists that the world would be so much better off if we dropped our support of Israel?

There is a disconnect in your logic, don't you see. I'd be suprised if from a true statement "Israel is not *the* reason", another one "we should support Israel to any extent" would follow. My belief is that America *should* support Israel, but only to the extent of guaranteeing their security from a sudden Arab attack. That is, America should tell the Arabs, if you attack, we'll interfere. NOTHING more is a given or implied.

First, the argument you bring up - while I personally haven't used it on this forum - it is valid as one of *many* reasons why America should support Israel.

Let's drop the subject of whether that argument is valid or not, as non-essential to this argument.

Second, I apologize that I don't know German but I think I get your point.

If you had, then you should be ashamed at your generalizations.

You seem to be mad because I called you down on some of your attempts at spreading distortions.

And yet, you are the one caught trying to put words in my mouth. Is that a debating technique?

I noted but bears no logical relation to what follows. It is the sort of ploy that manipulative Leftists use - a valid but irrelevant premise.

It makes perfect sense, because those are fundamental principles you are supposed to make you case.

You're not a Leftist, are you?

LOL!
