Check out this letter to the Australian (says 9/11 was a "monument to peace"
The Australian ^ | September 9, 2002 | Bob Lane

Posted on 09/09/2002 2:59:40 PM PDT by zapiks44

On the anniversary of September 11, it is of value to reflect on the causes of this event, particularly as they are still present and likely to provoke similar attacks in the future.

At about the same time as George Bush was asking why the US was hated, Osama bin Laden was trying to explain it to him.

Bush was told the US would know no peace until US troops were out of the Islamic holy land, the punitive sanctions against Iraq were ended and a solution was found for the hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees resulting from the formation of Israel.

Unfortunately, Bush didn't listen, or if he and his Government did hear, they were too arrogant to even contemplate the effect that US foreign policy might be having on the Islamic world. As a result, we find ourselves on the brink of another war. There is a tragedy perhaps greater than the innocent lives lost in the September attack, or greater even than the number of innocent Afghanis killed by US bombs.

The real tragedy was that the attack did not make US more introspective and as a result, more just in its dealings with the Arab world.

The deaths of all those in the two towers should have been a monument to peace; instead it has become a monument to war-mongering. Bob Lane Warwick, Qld

Got this courtesy of Tim Blair's blog site (www.timblair.com). Excellent blog site, BTW. I've always noticed that Australia has some of the best conservatives and some of the worst leftists.

He mistates Osama Video # 1 a bit, and seems to forget Osama Video # 2 where Australia was specifically attacked for it's Crusader actions in East Timor.

Bush never asked that question.

The deaths of all those in the two towers should have been a monument to peace;

Oh, is that what Osama & Co. were going for? A monument to peace?

Who is this lunatic? He offends me.

I'm a little slow, but let me see if I have it right. If Islamic fanatics target and murder 3000 innocent US civilians, that should make us more 'introspective'? Wow ... what a good idea! So, then this must mean that if we retaliate and intentionally murder 3000 Muslims this will make them more introspective. With both sides being so introspective, who could possibly want to fight anymore? Brilliant ... BRILLIANT!

'blog' is short for 'web log'. A site where an individual, or several individuals chronicle their lives and opine on whatever they feel like.

Some are very interesting and some are not worth the time it takes to draw the screen.

So if the US has some problems with the Australian government, according to this idiot's logic, the diplomatic thing to do would be to fire some patriot missiles into downtown Sydney? What a jackass.

Bob Lane of Warwick in the State of Queensland, Australia, may you and all of your spawn for all of eternity rot and burn in Hell!

I can tell this jackass what the causes of the event were. 19 fanatics decided to murder people. The rest of it is entirely irrelevant.

It used to be fairly clear-cut that only someone mentally deranged treated the act of murder equal in importance with the reasons chosen to commit the act. Insanity and self-defense (and I mean to an immediate physical threat) are the only legitimate defenses to killing somebody in this guy's culture and jursiprudence as well as ours. Whatever it is in "broad" liberal thinking that allows the putative thinker to blur that distinction is not the happiest feature of this new mode of "thought."

He probably thinks that a lot of aggression in WWII could have been avoided if Europe had just let Germany decide what it wanted for it's citizens and newly (re)-annexed territories.

And those Japanese were just trying to stop Western Imperialism. < /BARF >

Thanks for that info from me as well.

Do some show breasts? Or is that something different?

It's true. Look at the Germans now. They wouldn't fight their way out of a wet paper sack if their nation depended upon it.

War, when "liberally applied" (if you'll excuse the pun), can have an amazing pacifying effect on belligerant populations.

For more of this "shake your head in disbelief" crap, check www.uscrusade.com. The bunch of poltroons there is in complete denial about the 911 attacks..still claiming USA and Israel are the real culprits. With any luck, many of the doctrinaires posting "woe to the poor people of the world" there will volunteer to serve as human shields for Saddam.

This guy is basically a dumbass. I have not
found any justification for targeting civilians
regardless of the policies/actions of their govt.

And yes, that was a major intent of 9/11--to
make the US more isolationist. It did not
accomplish that goal either.

And yes, the attacks of 9/11/2001 were an
invitation to war. Typically referred to as
acts of war. If this guy would get his head
out of his rectum, he might be able to see this.
