It is funny that our secretary of defense also squints with his glasses. May be too much gun powder in the air?

In WWII, half of France (the Vichey French) embraced the Nazis.

France lost it's brains, it's courage, and it's honor when they killed off their aristocracy in the Revolution.

A truly pathetic people. A shadow of what was once a glorious nation.

Regarding your comment about the non-military background of the French Defense Minister, these lines by Gilbert & Sullivan apply:

"Stick close to your desk, and never go to sea,
And you may be the ruler of the Queen's Nav-ee."

Congressman Billybob

No wonder the French can't deploy working aircraft carriers.

Perfect.

Here's a bonus selection, not quite as apt but impossible to pass up, from The Gondoliers:

In enterprise of martial kind,
When there was any fighting,
He led his regiment from behind --
He found it less exciting.
But when away his regiment ran,
His place was at the fore, O --
That celebrated,
Cultivated,
Underrated
Nobleman,
The Duke of Plaza-Toro!

And it also was applying to WTC in my opinion. With friends like France, who needs enemies?
