FLIT'S SNIPER PREDICTION
At present, the authorities in D.C. are looking for a white cube van, a white panel van, and a burgundy Chevy Caprice.
My money's on the Caprice. White vans, because it's the most common delivery truck colour, are near-ubiquitous on city highways. Drive the four-lanes around Toronto, and there's rarely a five minute stretch where something white and van-like isn't speeding away from you in some direction. No, wait, I'll make another prediction. The engagement range of the sniper, when all is said and done, will be found to vary between 75-200m. Nothing farther. (For reference, Lee Oswald hit Jack Kennedy with his final shot at 80m.) All this talk about a "sniper subculture" (which anyone who's played first-person shooter computer games in the last three years must just find unfathomable) and weapons that are accurate past 400m will only obscure the fact that this guy is killing with a cheap, military-grade semi-auto .223 with a scope, from moderate range.
Notice the media will not call him a radical LEFT wing zealot? If it was a McVeigh-type, I guarantee EVERY stinking media outlet would have prefaced the killer's name with "radical right wing extremist".
Or Lew Alcindor's?
Having said that, they could be patsies for somebody's special operatives.
I will watch with a jundiced eye how this unfolds. I have no faith whatsoever in the character of the current administration and believe them capable of killing their own citizens for political advantage.

Well, last night, the former FBI guy "Chris" something on MSNBC was talking about how the Patriot Act may have given law enforcement the tools to capture these guys. That's unlikely in my opinion, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is the claim that will be made by the Feds to try to "show" the American people who were against it that it will be used for "good purposes". You never know.
In any case MetroSource is a newswire service we get at the stations. It ran the slug with an attrib to FOX. When I saw it I checked FOX news TV and saw the same statement on the closed caption so I ran with it. Basically there was no link, but I see now that FOX news aas well as CNN is reporting the same thing.
The report from Metro ( attrib to FOX) said it IS a ballistic match, but I haven't had time to watch to check that out.
And now it's time for this one to catch a few winks...LOL!

Okay, here goes - he was making fun of the law enforcement officials who were on his trail. To him, forcing Chief Moose to publicly say "We have caught the sniper like a duck in a noose" was a huge joke. Think about it - what happens to a duck when you put a noose around its neck? Since its neck and head are pretty much the same diameter, it slips its head right out of the noose - that's what. I think this is hilarious that Chief Moose read this statement just an hour before the guy was caught. I think it was the chief's way of having the last laugh.
