Freep the media - demand coverage of Ron Kirk's ties to the anti-Israel, pro-terror crowd
me

The Nature of the Coverup:
Though few voters in Texas likely know the details, many members of the "mainstream" media are engaging in blatant lies to benefit a Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate, Ron Kirk. The coverup extends not only to Kirk's  liberal politics, but also to his extensive affiliations with anti-Israel activists and causes, radical islamic organizations, political associates of John Walker Lindh, and even a high profile felon who was sentenced last week in a post 9/11 anti-terrorism investigation. These dubious affiliations extend throughout Kirk's operation, including his supporters, contributors, and even his campaign staff. To date the Texas media, which would not dare report anything to challenge Kirk's perception as a "centrist" "pro-business" Democrat, has been near unanimous in its silence about Kirk's terror ties.

Democrat Ron Kirk is a central part of Tom Daschle's effort to retain Democrat control of the Senate. Democrats know this. The media knows this. And as always, the media is eager to help their party of choice on election day. Kirk, the former mayor of Dallas, is by all reasonable measures a member of the Democrat party's radical left. He has campaigned with Rep. Barbara Lee, Jesse Jackson, and Hillary Clinton among others. Politically, he told a left wing anti-military group that his governing philosophy is resembled closely in leftist Senator Carl Levin of Michigan. When asked the same question before a Texas audience though, Kirk responded by naming former Senator Lloyd Bentsen - a percieved moderate, at least as far as the media is concerned. The latter is how the media wants Kirk to appear and how Kirk himself wants to appear before Texas voters next Tuesday. Playing "moderate" is the only way he can win in a traditionally conservative state like Texas.

Ron Kirk  - What the Media REFUSES to Report:

Stories on Kirk that have gone unreported
The following stories detail Kirk's radical affiliations. Most have not been reported anywhere but at these conservative publications, a few Free Republic threads, and brief stories on conservative outlets like World Net Daily.

Campaign finance records showing donation to Ron Kirk:

Double Standard Exposed:
Evidence of the willful media coverup of Kirk's radical terror affiliations is found in the events of the last week. Two highly comparable incidents occured with campaign donors to Texas candidates, both of them cause for political embarrassment. One pertained  to Republican Governor Rick Perry. The other to Democrat Kirk.

Republican: Yesterday it was revealed that Rick Perry's campaign recieved a single $100 contribution from Jim Claymore, leader of a white supremacist organization. Upon discovery of its source, Perry's campaign immediately returned the check and denounced the donor. The campaign of Perry's Democrat opponent Tony Sanchez immediately seized on the issue and accused Perry of knowingly taking contributions from white supremacists. The story was picked up on the national wire of the Associated Press (see here) and ran as a news article in most of the major daily newspapers in Texas. It has recieved coverage in Texas for the last two days and will likely continue to recieve coverage as long as the Democrats and the media think they can play the issue

Democrat: Last week the first prison sentence in the government's North Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force investigation was handed down to Ihsan Elashyi of Dallas (see here). Elashyi was sentenced on charges related to the illegal export of mass quantities of computer equipment to designated terrorist states Libya and Syria as well as other locations in the Middle East. Elashyi's firm Infocom has also been at the center of a major anti-terrorism investigation over its involvement with the infamous Holy Land Foundation "charity" and financial ties to a top HAMAS official in Syria. Elashyi is also a $500 contributor to Ron Kirk's mayoral campaign in Dallas. Unlike Perry who returned the white supremacist's donation immediately, there is no known record of Kirk ever returning the contribution from Elashyi. To date, this fact has gone unreported by any major "mainstream" media source. Only conservative alternative publications in Texas have made mention of it.

The double standard is obvious. A Republican recieves an embarrassing donation, immediately returns it to its source, but is nevertheless attacked by his opponent and the incident gets picked up on the national Associated Press news wires. But when a Democrat donor who gave five times as much gets convicted in a terrorism investigation, the response is silence. No AP wire, no story in any daily paper, no evening TV news coverage. Just silence. This silence dominates coverage of Kirk's campaign. There have been:

ZERO "mainstream" media stories on Elashyi's contribution to Kirk.
ZERO "mainstream" media stories on Kirk's connection to CAIR and other similar organizations
ONE "mainstream" media report on Kirk's employment of Steven Hyland (Austin American-Statesman)
ZERO "mainstream" media stories on Kirk's lies about Hyland at a campaign rally
ZERO "mainstream" media stories on Kirk campaigning with Barbara Lee beyond a brief mention of her name

FREEP THE MEDIA - Tell them to report the truth about Ron Kirk
Calling all freeper - please contact the media and demand they quit hiding Ron Kirk's radicalism. Polls show Kirk trailing about 6-7 points, but the Texas Senate race is still very much in play. Retaking the US Senate hinges on a GOP victory in this race and the media is doing everything they can to prevent that from happening - even if it means hiding Ron Kirk's radical ties to Israel-haters and terrorist affiliates.

As of right now, Kirk draws support from moderates, ticket splitters, and independents because that is what he claims to be and how the media describes him. We all know that Kirk is a radical left winger with Cynthia McKinney style political affiliations, but many voters do not. 6 points, though good, does not mean this race is in the bag. Unlike Cynthia McKinney's race earlier this year, Kirk's dubious affiliations and campaign contributors have recieved next to ZERO media coverage and by all reasonable standards this has been intentional.

6% is barely outside of the margin of error and as we all know, election dynamics can shift a couple points instantaneously - especially if the Democrats employ their "knock and drag" style get out the vote tactics. The Houston Press reported yesterday that in Houston alone, the Dems have a parking lot full of vans ready to drive their voters to the polls as part of their largest mobilization effort in decades (see here).  Let's make sure this doesn't translate into a Kirk victory. Contact conservative media outlets and draw their attention to Ron Kirk's radicalism. Then freep the "mainstream" media and demand they report the TRUTH about Ron Kirk.

Kirk is running a Rodney King "Can't we all just get along?" campaign in TX. Sometimes I think he has converted John Cornyn to his idea of camaraderie. I think Cornyn needs to be more forceful to guarantee victory, still in doubt, on Nov. 5. I think Kirk is now as well known as Cornyn. Kirk is runninng well among whites, considering his liberalism.
