Daschle reaction

Posted on 11/06/2002 2:07:10 PM PST by pulaskibush

Tom Daschle reacts strongly to the defeats of his democratic party and the loss of his position as Majority Leader in the Senate. This reaction was similar to another Daschle reaction made earlier this year.

REPUBLICANS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, Christ rules and He has given us one more chance to get our act together it would seem. Thank God

Now, let's show our gratitude by banning partial birth abortion, let the senate pass the house version and get it to the President before the end of the week.

A great, candid portrait of reality "sinking in".

I agree that partial birth abortion should be banned, as w/ all abortions in the United States. However, this is a STATE issue, not a federal issue: murder (which includes abortion) is NOT one of the crimes that the Constitution gives the federal government the power to punish! In case you don't remember, the powers given to the feds by the Constitution, as stated by James Madison in The Federalist Papers #45, are "FEW & DEFINED"....& murder, "hate crimes", in-state drug use/cultivation/posession/manufacturing, rape, & a whole host of other acts are not among those listed. The state governments are responsible here, & I hope someone can prove to me otherwise, 'cuz I would like to know (& NO, Supreme Court rulings don't count, 'cuz they themselves have bastardized the Original Intent of the Founders just as blatantly as the other 2 branches of The Leviathan have done during the last 100 years)! P.S. I suggest you read the Kentucky Resolutions. Also, Pat Buchanan is right: repeal Roe v. Wade, & give it BACK to the States, where it originally belongs!

FWIW, Roe v Wade can't be "repealed" as it's a SCOTUS decision, and not a law. Instead, it must be "overturned" by another SCOTUS, finding the Costitutional reasoning behind the decision specious, which it most certainly is.

The biggest problem lies in the fact that people have forgotten their history, and seem to believe that SCOTUS is incapable of error, or of gross political pandering to loud, but politically powerful minorities in this country. It happened before, on at least one egregrious occaision, and required an actual, physical, violent conflict to rectify the problem.

The Supreme Court isn't made up of gods, but of men (and women), who can, and do make mistakes, and are fully capable of corruption. Case in point, The Dred Scott Decision, which was the occasion mentioned before. Roe v Wade is as Constitutionally unsound as Dred Scott, and should by right be overturned, lest the same manner in which Dred Scott was "overturned" visit us again...

I don't think much will be done until January. Have patience.

In the words of Gregg Allman "Can't spend what you ain't got, can't lose what you never had".

("Can't Lose What You Never Had" from the album "Win, Lose Or Draw". The Allman Brothers Band 1975)

Thank Jesus lott disagrees with you.

(CNSNews.com) - Incoming Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott's (R-Miss.) promise to pass a partial birth abortion ban is being praised by conservatives. During an interview with American Family Radio Wednesday, Lott said, "I will call it up, we will pass it, and the president will sign it. I'm making that commitment - you can write it down."

Concerned Women for America, which ran ads in outgoing Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle's home state of South Dakota before the elections, praised Lott's decision. "This is exactly what the American people voted for," said CWA President Sandy Rios. "Tom Daschle ignored them despite our warnings. Trent Lott is stepping up to the plate and making a firm commitment to the American people that Congress will protect these children from the horror of partial-birth abortion. We are hopeful this comes to pass as soon as possible. The American people are counting on Trent Lott and the new Senate."
