The federal Transportation Security Administration has hired an intelligence official with database expertise to oversee development of the agency's computer profiling system, a proposed network of supercomputers intended to instantly assess every passenger's background for potential ties to terrorism, officials close to the project said yesterday.
Ben H. Bell III, who recently served as deputy director of a technology-oriented terrorism task force at the Justice Department, is expected to work out technical and policy kinks that have delayed what some officials regard as the most ambitious domestic data-surveillance system ever begun by the federal government.

I'll be interested to see comments on this story, given the long thread on the breast touching the past couple of days.

There is no way to please some people. As I said on another thread, they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

I excerpted this story. There's more if you follow the link. I was only barely aware of this proposed system, and the rest of the story is clear that not many details are going to be forthcoming. But the system is going to do things like credit checks, etc. Of course, you're going to have to give your SS# when you buy a ticket, since "Robert Jones" is not enough ID to do any sort of check.
This is gonna scare a bunch of folks...of course it'll also free up some extra seats on the airlines.

I missed that thread.
Was it a good laugh?

Someone remind me. How's that new computer system for the FAA air traffic control going? You know the one -- billions overbudget and years past the due date?
When will people ever understand that the government is completely incapable of handling anything on a mass scale in due course without wasting billions before they realize their worker-bees have mucked it up with incompetence?

Let me guess: no muslims will be on the list, but gun owners will. Christian censorship first.
They're the oppsite of PC.
The powers that be have to silence them to persue their Marxist aganda.
Christianity MUST be eliminated from the system.

Read the whole article. It's not profiling the way you think it is.

Of course, you're going to have to give your SS# when you buy a ticket, since "Robert Jones" is not enough ID to do any sort of check. A national ID card is inevitable. Conservatives who fight it are going to ultimately lose.

Read the whole article. It's not profiling the way you think it is. Yeh, I know. It caught my eye. I figured I'd beat the liberals this time. LOL

I suspect you're right. It's just a matter of time, and a short time at that.

Hahah,,,that thread was so long. And when I saw this, I knew the same guys would be over here bitching and moaning and predicting Orwellian changes in our government. I don't get those guys, I really don't.

The TSA's plans for CAPPS II -- short for the second-generation Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System -- call for a computer system that will analyze passengers' travel reservations, housing information, family ties, identifying details in credit reports and other personal information to determine if they're "rooted in the [terrorist] community" or have an unusual history that indicates a potential threat.Big Brother will decide who gets to fly. That's the bottom line.In the meantime the government will compile dossiers on everyone that will make Vladimir Putin jealous.

There is a way to get back at these people.
Some have gotten personal data on those working on these systems nd posted it on the net.
Seems some on this site are the usal run-of-the-mill sheeple, not true freedom lovers or they wouldn't be so docile toward government intrusion.
