The Nutty Professor

The other day a friend of mine forwarded an account of an e-mail exchange between a cadet at the Air Force Academy and a professor at St. Xavier University.

The cadet was innocently informing the college about an event called The Academy Assembly, a gathering where political subjects are discussed and inquiring about the best methods of advertising in the St. Xavier area. The letter ended up in the hands of a certain professor, Peter Kirstein, and here is the professor’s reply:

“You are a disgrace to this country and I’m furious you would even think I would support you and your baby killing tactics of collateral damage. Help you recruit, who, top guns to reign death and destruction upon non white people throughout the world? Are you serious sir? Resign your commission and serve your country with honor.

No war, no Air Force cowards who bomb countries with A.A.A. without possibility of retaliation.

You are worse than the snipers. You are imperialists who are turning the whole damn world against us.

Sept. 11th can be blamed in part for what you and your cohorts have done to Palestinians, the VC, the Serbs a retreating army at Basra.

You are unworthy of my support.

My letter to Professor Kirstein:

No sir, you are a disgrace to this country, you and all you, blame America, bleeding heart, socialistic, politically correct, flower child dinosaurs. The world has changed since the sixties professor, get your square head out of the sand. Wake up and smell the ashes of September 11th.

You insult the military of this country, the very young men and women who stand in the gap and make it possible for people like you to espouse your harebrained ideas. Try writing your letter to Saddam’s republican guard.

You mentioned the words baby killer. Well while you didn’t state it, I would bet a Mercedes to a mule collar that you would define yourself as pro choice. Do you have any idea how many innocent babies have been murdered in the name of pro choice? So you have a lot of nerve accusing anybody of being a baby killer.

You used the words “Air Force cowards”, I wish you could see some of the Air Force cowards I recently visited in Korea. Young men and women who stand in a state of readiness in the back yard of one of the most dangerous and volatile nations on earth. That takes a real coward doesn't it professor?

You mention our treatment of the Palestinians but you didn’t extend your baby killer description to the ones who regularly slaughter innocent children in Israel.

Check out what happened in Somalia professor when we tried to feed the people of that country and the food was confiscated by anIdi Amin, who ended up killing some of our troops and dragging a body through the streets of the city.

And what did Bill Clinton, the poster child of your kind of thinking do? He turned tail and ran, more concerned about his poll numbers than he was with teaching a third rate war lord that he can’t take the lives of Americans without paying a terrible price .

I can’t believe that a University could back someone with your convictions but I guess that’s just the world of academia.

I wish there was a way for people like you who so despise our military to be responsible for your own security. I’d like to see the look on your face when one of Usama’s boys knocked on your front door.

If so, it must have been very recently. He's still listed on SXU's faculty roster. Profs like him are the reason I audited every last professor before selecting which section I chose for a course. When I was in doubt, I went to their offices and interviewed them. I could usually tell who they were within a couple minutes.

Here it is. He was reprimanded, suspended from teaching for the rest of this semester and will be subject to academic review in the spring. It wasn't just about the e-mail he sent.

The following is something I just pulled up from "the Datrmuth Review" dated about Nov. 9th. I guess he's not "fired", just "relieved"! I left the second paragraph in as a good example of the elitest gobbly-gook they shovel out. :

Kirstein has been “relieved of his teaching responsibilities” for the current semester and officially reprimanded. Faculty will review his record at the university during the spring term. Some conservatives, including Stanley Kurtz of the National Review, disagree with St. Xavier’s handling of the matter:

“The best way to combat Kirstein’s outrageous statements is by making arguments and issuing condemnations, not by banning him from the classroom. True, the case against punishment is not iron-clad. Professor Kirstein’s outrageous letter did violate the standards of professionalism promulgated by the American Association of University Professors. It would be perfectly fair to take Kirstein’s actions into account in a tenure decision, and a teacher who grievously and persistently insulted his students in class could not be allowed to continue with impunity. But in a case like this, while punishment may not be categorically illegitimate, it is nonetheless best to act on the principle that the best remedy for offensive speech is more speech.”

LOL! This is a scream. Richard Yanikoski, President of SXU, is a former member of the USAF! His open reply to all the letters of protest he received about Kirstein makes it clear that he is less than pleased with this peckerwood.

While I can't vouch for his sexual "persuasion," I would venture to say that there are plenty of women who are more man than he is.

What do I think?

I think the letter from the nut stands on its own, with no need to comment whatsoever. Charlie should save his energy for the people you actually have to THINK about.

Fortunately, Kirstein isn't tenured. If he were, he'd be a lot more belligerant and practically impossible to get rid of. As it is, he has to grovel to keep his job.
