I saw a break on FOX News saying that there was so much traffic on Hiway 44 (?) that tow trucks were having trouble getting through. Traffic was that backed up because of it ...

Doesn't surprise me. I just moved out here last July. People can not drive in the snow in OK. Just going to McDonalds this am I saw at least four cars off the road and in ditches with less than 2 inches of snow on the ground. People simply don't slow down. It's quite amazing really.

Oklahoma is getting significant snow. Upwards of 6+ inches so far.

True. I live about 10 miles from Miami. The old Route 66 runs through there and is very narrow and poorly maintained. We don't plow the roads much here in OK. That said, anyone with any sense wouldn't be out in this snowstorm.

so much traffic Sure is a lot of traffic everywhere. Are the humans getting ready to migrate again? Canada geese start formation flying a couple weeks before they set out for the winter homes. Where are we humans going to go this time?

Think a winter snow storm caused it.

It's quite amazing really. Do you have armadillos in Oklahoma?

You are correct, but, really, doesn't it have more to do with snow plows and salt (or lack thereof) than driver skill? When I moved to Michigan from Texas, I heard on at least 20 occasions (as the person made condescending sniffs) that, "people in the South don't know how to drive in the snow." After one year here, through 4 seasons, I can now confidently and without fear of rebuttal make the statement, "people in Michigan don't know how to drive in ANY damned kind of weather."

In NE Oklahoma, we have way over 12 inches of the stuff on the ground, with drifts of nearly 3 feet. Could someone please come claim this junk and get it outa here?

We've got a sprinkling of flurries in the metro, and a little ice on bridges, so far. Looks like OKC lucked out latitudinally, again...but barely.
Fortunately, barely is good enough...the difference between a trace of snow and "drifts."

I agree! I'm sick of winter. We only got a couple of inches of snow last night, thank goodness.
I live in west central Oklahoma so we're not seeing the snow that the NE is but I have family that are trying to travel through this mess to get to CO for an uncle's funeral.

My son lives in Vinita. Right next door to Miami. They got hit extra hard with snow from the same system that set records recently on the east coast.
It's snowing pretty good in Wichita right now, with a stiff north wind. They may see upwards of 17" down around Miami today.

We live in Grove, on Grand Lake. I had only heard that we were getting six inches of snow. There must be ten already.

I agree! I'm sick of winter. I'm with you. In fact I'm joining my brothers and sisters in Berkely to declare a "free-zone", them from nuclear weapons, and The People's Republic of Central Indiana from winter.
