A meeting of the Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com will be held this Saturday, March 1. Most of those attending the meeting will meet first at the Capitol in Austin at 2 PM for a pro-America rally to support our nation, President, and troops. From the rally, we will go to my (basil's) house for dinner and a movie.
The movie, provided by TheSarce, is a tape of the documentary that aired on HBO last November, "Journeys With George." If you haven't yet seen it, you are in for a real treat. It's a must-see for all FReepers! This is the documentary that then-NBC producer Alexandra Pelosi (daughter of now-House Minority leader and far-leftist Dem Nancy Pelosi) made of her time on the press bus covering the George W. Bush Presidential campaign in 2000. It will ESPECIALLY bring back memories of that whole crazy and scary election for us veterans from the Governor's Mansion demonstrations. It lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes -- but there are a couple of places I guarantee y'all will want to rewind and play again, so figure about an hour-and-a-half to watch it.

The Travis County Republican Party presents Rally for America, a march to support President Bush's proactive plan to bring lasting peace, justice, and liberty to the Middle East. The rally will be Saturday, March 1st at 2:00 p.m on the south steps of the Texas Capitol. Volunteers should report at 1:15 p.m.
See basil's note at the top of this thread and come join us after the rally for some fun and food.

Heard on the 5 o'clock news here that the resolution failed to pass and was remitted back to its sponsor. Something was said (paraphrasing here) by I think Mayor LeeP.periodBrown that it wasn't a city councils job to get involved in these kind of national matters.
Maybe ol' LeeP knows which side of his bread is buttered on afterall when he is looking to Washington for federal funds.

I suppose their rally is at 11:00AM(not that I be able to make it then.)
The event is sponsored by the Austin Review Society and the Travis County Republican Party.
We have confirmed the following speakers and entertainment:
1. Letrell A. Bellard, President of the Major General Robert Bernstein MD/Texas Capital Area Chapter of the Association of the United States Army and Vice President of Public Affairs for the Military Service Coalition of Austin. He will speak on the efforts of our troops and the support we can give them.
2. Don Crawford from KLBJ Radio will speak.
3. Pastor Lee Boss of Victory Christian Center will speak, and
4. Victory Christian Center Choir will perform
Alan Sager of the Travis County Republican Party is still adding to the speakers list.
