Kofi Annandersen: Enron-style accounting at the U.N. Oil-for-Food Program.

Who is Saddam Hussein's biggest business partner?

The United Nations. The same U.N. whose secretary-general, Kofi Annan, stands as one of the chief ditherers over removing Saddam. Here are the ingredients of a conflict of interest.

Under the U.N.'s Office of the Iraq Program, which supervises the six-year-old Oil-for-Food Program, the U.N. has had a hand in the sale of more than $55 billion worth of Iraqi oil. Iraq ships oil out to U.N.-approved buyers under the terms of the sanctions agreement. The U.N. vets the inflow of "humanitarian" imports into Iraq.

A few of the US groups pushing pro-UN propaganda over the decades:

UN USA .org: COUNCIL OF ORGANIZATIONS

Greatly augmenting the size of UNA's constituency are the
more than 100 affiliated national organizations (among them education,
religious, labor, environmental and women's groups) that have enlisted
in UNA's Council of Organizations.
These organizations share the common
goals of making the American public more knowledgeable about global
issues, for informing and educating the public about the United Nations,
and for strengthening the U.N. system.

The Council has two working arms, one based in Washington,
D.C., and one in New York. Their respective Executive Committees
constitute the Council's leadership.
Both groups sponsor briefings and
other programs throughout the year for NGOs to share educational
information and advocacy plans regarding issues on the U.N. agenda.

"If you belong to any of the groups that make up UNA's Council of Organizations,
you're already a part of the UNA-USA community!"

These groups include:
AARP, AFL-CIO,American Federation of Teachers,Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, MANY church groups - including the NCC,Communications Workers of America,Girl Scouts of the USA,International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers,League of Women Voters of the United States,Lions Clubs International,NAACP,National Audubon Society, National Congress of American Indians,National Education Association,National Gay and Lesbian Task Force,National Wildlife Federation,Planned Parenthood Federation of America,Rotary International,The Salvation Army,Save the Children Federation,The Sierra Club,United Way International,YMCA - National Council, YWCA, Zonta...

UNA-USA BOARD OF DIRECTORS includes Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford.

Imagine if the these US groups had been promoting the USA instead of the UN....but that would be called propaganda. Instead, these groups push (on behalf of the UN, but 'coincidentally' mirroring their own agendas) CEDAW, ENDA, Kyoto, ICC, "hate crimes" legislation, population control and other social engineering programs without an election, without any accountability...and with US taxpayer $$$.

On the positive side, in the past month many Americans have been de-programmed by the UN's own display of cowardice and greed.

Yes, but there are still enough fools in the world who actually believe that the UN's presence is for the "betterment of mankind" and not for the UN's own power-hungry, corrupt, greedy, anti-Israeli, anti-American and American-envying agenda! The USA needs to quit the UN and send it packing to "Old Europe." Let the UN become as biased and irrelevant as that hypocritical "World Court" in Belgium is!!!

So what we can conclude from this article is that, for all the talk about how many children have died in Iraq since 1991, Kofi had the money to save them?

Good point, Howlin!
Thanks for the ping, nutmeg. (Will I see you in DC for the next Patriots Rally?

I'm surprised the National Council of Catholic Women is on this since the Vatican pulled out of UNICEF

http://www.knightsite.com/kc9496/unborn25.htm

and that the UN supports pornography

NEW YORK — A UNICEF-funded book being passed out at the United Nations Child Summit encourages children to engage in sexual activities with other minors and with homosexuals and animals.

and supports paganism

http://www.thenewamerican.com/tna/2002/09-23-2002/vo18no19_religion.htm

and then there are the many articles about the UN being involved with abortion and population control..These Ladies are sadly misinformed. I wish the Bishops would pull the plug on the support.

"Every child is our child."

"To achieve One World Government it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, their loyalty to family traditions and national identification."

1948 -- UNESCO president and Fabian Socialist, Sir Julian Huxley, calls for a radical eugenic policy in UNESCO: Its Purpose and Its Philosophy. He states: "Thus, even though it is quite true that any radical eugenic policy of controlled human breeding will be for many years politically and psychologically impossible, it will be important for UNESCO to see that the eugenic problem is examined with the greatest care and that the public mind is informed of the issues at stake that much that is now unthinkable may at least become thinkable."

Why weren't the American people informed? The UN is one big smoking gun in the case against the left-wing mainstream newsmedia.

We've been brainwashed for over 50 years and it's going to take another 50 to reverse the way America and the world thinks. That's one of the reasons why I post these posts on UN threads on the FR. Just trying to let people know what's going on. I also forward them to some teachers including some of my old grammar-school and high-school teachers who took us on field trips to the wonderful UN!

more than $20 billion from the Iraq program is now sitting in U.N. escrow accounts awaiting some combination of Saddam's planning and U.N. processing

Speaking of $20 billion, check out this hit piece from tomorrow's New York Times.

POSTWAR PLANS

Panel Faults Bush on War Costs and Risks

By PATRICK E. TYLER

The cost of postwar reconstruction of Iraq will be at least $20 billion a year and will require the long-term deployment of 75,000 to 200,000 troops to prevent widespread instability and violence against former members of Saddam Hussein's regime, a panel of national security experts say in a new study.

The panel, consisting of senior American officials from Republican and Democratic administrations, was organized by the Council on Foreign Relations. It concludes that President Bush has failed "to fully describe to Congress and the American people the magnitude of the resources that will be required to meet the post-conflict needs" of Iraq.

>>>snip<<<

They urged Mr. Bush "to make clear to Congress, the American people and the people of Iraq that the United States will stay the course" in Iraq by financing a "multibillion-dollar" reconstruction program and seeking formal congressional endorsement of it.

>>>snip<<<

The report calls particular attention to the lack of planning and inadequate resources devoted to the humanitarian front after the war. Though Mr. Bush has created a new Pentagon Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance, overall planning by international agencies like the World Food Program shows that only $30 million of a $120 million initial requirement for Iraq has been financed. The panel suggested that the White House request an immediate $3 billion for Iraq reconstruction tasks and food aid for the initial postwar phase.

To the extent the United States fails to move quickly to address the security and food needs of the more than 16 million Iraqis now dependent on the United Nations' oil-for-food program, Washington will quickly be blamed. "It would fuel the perception that the result of the U.S. intervention is an increase of humanitarian suffering," the report says.

>>>snip<<<

At the Pentagon yesterday, two senior Defense Department officials, speaking to reporters on condition they not be identified, said the new office charged with establishing a postwar administration hoped to be able to turn over control to an interim Iraqi government within months. But they did not say how they planned to root out the thousands of intelligence and security service agents that Mr. Hussein is known to have placed within virtually every government ministry.

The officials said that Iraq's frozen assets might be tapped to pay for the Iraqi government salaries, or some of Iraq's oil revenues used to finance the interim government. That had not yet been decided, they said.

Ping, y'all.

This is an important story, IMHO. We need to try to get it into the mainstream press, however we can.

I'll email it to Rush and Hannity, and I am going to give a copy of the story to Roger Hedgecock tomorrow night. He is broadcasting from WDC this week with his annual "Hold Their Feet to the Fire" trip.

If anyone has any connections to major news outlets, this story has got to get into the news cycle.

They haven't got it yet: Iraqi oil revenues will pay for the war (can anyone say "reparations?") and Iraq's reconstruction.

Plenty of money there, if we can pry it from Kofi's greedy little hands!

In another craven move, the U.N.'s Iraq program even allowed Saddam to dictate in October 2000 that he no longer wanted the Oil-for-Food accounts to be held in the currency of the enemy, meaning U.S. dollars. Obediently, the U.N. switched all Iraq funds from that stage forward to euros, in effect helping Saddam impose his own version of sanctions on the U.S.

The UN is a useless organization and a conduit for European obstructionists.

The UN should be eliminated by the same mechanism Sadam will, LOL!

You're welcome! I'm afraid it may be awhile before we're able to head down to DC again. :-( When is the next DC Patriots Rally?

We had a pretty cool "Support Our Troops" rally up here last Saturday. RaceBannon did an excellent job working with the VFW on this one, and he gave a great speech at the rally. I'll ping you to the threads (there's about two of them). I think he's working on another rally (here) for March 22.
