The Politics of the Academy Awards
The American Prowler
Posted on 03/18/2003 9:35:37 PM PST by NorseWood
The American Prowler Reports that the Academy Awards on Sunday night will allow its winners to make political speechs when receiving their awards. Enough is enough, it is time to tell Hollywood that we will not buy their product anymore. Who do they think they are that they think that we want to listen to them pontificate from the stage?

Just don't watch the show. I guarantee you this year will have the WORST ratings, especially since they're not going to do the red carpet thing. What the heck is Joan Rivers gonna do?

Don't worry, I won't be watching it. I am seriously considering going to Hollywood to join the other Freepers in demonstrating in front of the theater.

What the heck is Joan Rivers gonna do?Vomit bile and venom towards the President for hours, just like all of the other Hollywood leftists will do.
Watch for one bright spot - my one-time dear friend, Renee Zellweger. She'll likely win Best Actress, and I doubt she will say word one that would offend anyone.

Remeber, with as much as 71% of the nation in support of our troops, this is a huge blunder by the Academy. These people have been running their mouths about this for too long, and the combination of people being sick and tired of hearing about it and anger for their lack of support for their nation could result in a lot of people changing the channel.

While Hollywood nitwits bash the war effort out of naked hatred for Bush (and conservatism generally), they seem oblivious to the fact that it is THEY who engender the America-hatred above all else. When asked, people from other countries mostly blame Hollywood movies, pop music videos and Girls Gone Wild advertisements for their low opinion of the USA. Not Bush, Washington D.C., big corporations, Kyoto, CCI, our military, Gulf War One or McDonalds. Clueless wealthy snobs will bash Bush during their sad award ceremony. And miss the point entirely.

I'll be there with a number of friends.

You are right, the Hollywood crowd is is not even aware. They are so caught up in their own fantacy worlds and ego trips that they have lost touch with reality. They think that they a important to the rest of America. They are not.

Actually, Joan Rivers is Republican. Actually worked to get Forbes elected. How do you know Zellweger? (You knew I'd ask).

I don't think that I ever personally met her but probably had some common friends. I remember seeing her hang out regularly in some of the bars I frequented in Houston before and while she was acting in Texas film productions.

They're not?
That was the best part of the whole thing, having to watch the starlets grit their teeth and have to be nice to Joan.
Is E! at least doing the fashion critique? Some of the dresses are so ghastly is fun to sit and watch Joan and Melissa dissect them.

I like her a lot in the handful of movies of hers I have seen. (I do expect most award winners to use their 45 seconds to make political statements.)

I cannot wait to hear the Hollyweirdos spout their venom. Everyone who does this sort of thing pays a price. Let them finally come out of their cowardly closets, like Tom Thumb Daschle. I want to hear their views and I want to see their careers enjoying the same trajectory as a Mosler safe in flight. Hahahaha.

You are so right - Dick Morris said it was political suicide to diss a president who has such high public support for the war.

I liked Renee Zellweger too and up until now, she hadn't offered forth any political opinions. However, I'm sorry to say that she has now entered the ranks of the Hollywood Idiots. Unfortunately, I can't find the complete quote, but according to this site...
http://www.marchonhollywood.com/roll_zellweger.shtml
....she said, "Why are we going to war? I'm confused."
I've heard worse out of Hollywood, but I prefer these kind of statements:
"I was raised to keep my political views to myself," said best-actor nominee Nicolas Cage (Adaptation).
Said Queen Latifah, daughter of a Vietnam veteran: "We've got to support our boys and girls over there. On the other hand, we don't want to sit here and cry all day. It might just be the little break a person needs to take their mind off" the fighting.
Asked for his opinion on war with Iraq, Daniel Day-Lewis elicited surprised laughter: "The media is sick and tired of people in my position giving their opinions, yet you ask for my opinion. And then when I give it, you're going to say 'Why doesn't he shut up?' "
I couldn't have put it better myself!

Yes. She appears to have been assimilated by HOLLOW-WOOD, INC.
PS. Ever notice how these narcissistic elitist freaks contemptously view those in 'fly over country' as stupid, gullible idiots yet have no problem with the propaganda designed to get millions of those stupid, gullible idiots into theaters.
These egomaniacs need attention. They're worshipped (for being good at lying). Yet these frauds know they're unworthy of worship. (Who is?) So, they see you as a moron for worshipping them. Yet, they need the attention. But it's never enough to fill that empty hole (no, not the one in their skulls). Having fan(atic)s is a love/hate relationship. Good for them!
