Naah. The US officials want the enemy to see our bombers taking off, otherwise they would not allow it to be televised. This is intimidation of the nth degree. Sort of like when we launch MLRS' on their butts, give them time to surrender, and if they don't, reload, fire again, then a full blown artillery barrage, THEN send in the A-10's and choppers. This will be a massive day for surrenders in the west and south of Iraq.

Count me in among those hoping that we don't need to S&A their sorry butts. My personal preference is that we save the munitions for the next target - the Iranian regime.

Considering that Iranian feelings about the Ayatollah are not much different than Iraqi feelings about Saddam, I'd say it's a good bet and a good strategy. It would also give us an unchallenged sphere of influence from Israel, through Jordan, through Iraq and Iran, all the way to the borders of China and Pakistan.

A good position to be in, when we finally have to deal with the 'Islamic bomb'.
