The Free Republic server will be down briefly tonight. John is adding yet another server to the system to better handle the load. He'll have to bring the system down for about five minutes during the installation process. This should happen sometime within the next two hours. Hopefully, the system will only be down for about five minutes. Just enough time to make a pit stop.

Well, now, really, have you considered breaking that up into two "downs" of two and a half minutes each? Maybe an hour apart? I don't know how we'll take such an extended outage...
Seriously, though, kudos to you and John for all you've done, and for the pre-war upgrades that have kept Free Republic the best source of instantaneous news on everything. And thanks to the moderators, too, for being so cool about everything!

goes down. I usually
put on CNN, turn the
volume down, and listen
to NPR. This way, when
FreeRepublic comes back
up, I appreciate it that
