It would only be a T.V. movie; the ultimate of the Woman-in-Distress genre.

I would applaud--if they tell the story based upon what actually happened--including the effort by the Iraqi lawyer and his wife, a nurse in the hospital where she was being held, to get word to the Marines at the risk of his own life-- the stuff of Tom Clancy novels.

This kid needs some rest and relaxation for now. The media needs to give her family some space. We need to know the full story when she is well then she can make the decision to go for the Hollywierd deal. (Personally I hope she doesn't but she has every right to say yes to them if she wants) She is getting a full scholarship from the Governor of West Virginia and probably will go to school near her home. I personally wish this girl lots of luck and hope she gets to teach elementary school like she wanted.

Let's see......Janine Garafalo as Jessica?...........Yea, but how would you film the rape scene? Nobody is that good of an actor...
To: areafiftyone
I think it would be a great movie, with the right director and screenwriter. Mel Gibson, maybe?
I can see Reese Witherspoon or Cameron Diaz as Jessica.

I'd like to see the story told also, and I think that the girl who plays Buffy the V. S. would be a good choice for the role.

Hummm..Garafalo would be a natural to play the person at hospital who slapped wounded Jessie around. The Iraqi version of Nurse Ratchet.

When Hollyweird is done, the character will be a black, lesbian, vegan anti-war protestor from Soho who was captured by rogue elements of the US Army and the CIA. Something like that, they'll probably alter her background so that she's a "human shill shield" who was savaged and left for dead by American troops and that she was valiantly rescued by Red Crescent workers.
Just for added effect, she'll be a Palm Beach voter to boot.

If Jeanie Garafalo is cast, they'd probably have to get Dyane Thorne:
In all seriousness, I don't know that we will ever know the extent of the horrors that Jessica endured. People are queasy from the hobbling scene in Misery. Imagine breaking 2 legs, an arm, and causing spinal injuries.

Sergeant York was one of the best movies ever made, and one my favorites. It was made in the early '40s, and Gary Cooper won an Oscar, which he deserved. The movie was made, though, back in the days when morality and "old-time religion" meant something in this country...if you recall the script, Cooper became a God-fearing man and embraced spirituality and religion first and foremost in his life, after being convinced of Divine Protection, when his life was spared when riding drunk through a thunderstorm and his horse was hit by lightning. He saw again how God continued to protect and watch over him during his daring heroism and single-handed capture of all those Germans in WWI.
Today, in these corrupt times which are worse now than in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, Hollywood would never, ever consider making a film praising God and the "old-fashioned" Christian virtues that were exalted in Sergeant York. No sex, no profanity, no homosexuality, no bashing and trashing of the traditional family, no embrace of "diversity" and "tolerance," no violence, the right of a family to own a gun for self-defense and hunting, the Sunday tradition of church-going, hymn-singing and community togetherness...no way would Hollywood touch those verboten themes in a zillion years.
I still remember sitting through "American Beauty" when it came out (I watched it on cable, there was no way I was going to pay to see that trash)-- the movie was so obscene and vile, and celebrated so much depravity, that I actually felt physically sick afterward. Of course, it swept all the Oscars that year.

There isn't an uncelebrity that is worthy enough of portraying one of our brave soldiers - and we all know that they would twist, revise her story to their liking. Hope that if Jessica decides to allow her story to be made a movie script, that she would choose the actress and bind the studios to a script that she may approve of, with a clause that they will be sued if and when things are altered.

the stuff of Tom Clancy novels. That's the way I see the movie, too. It would start with Jessica in High School. I heard she wore combat boots to her prom. Then she joins the army. She goes through basic training where the popular BDU picture was taken. She attends basic marksmenship training where she was probably an average shot. She attends AIT. She gets here PCS assignment to Fort Bliss. All of this makes up the first 30 minutes of the movie.
The rest of the movie starts with her visiting her family just before deploying to the gulf. Between here and the convoy I have no idea what she did. I can guess since I'm a Gulf War veteran.
Then starts the convoy and the wrong turn. Then the battle. We still need to know how what transpired. I believe she shot at the Iraqis. She probably hit a few of them. We know from the good Colonel in Germany that she was not shot or stabbed.
Then there's the capture and torture. Jessica will most certainly have to tell us what happened there (if she wants to).
Then there's the nurse and her lawyer husband. The marines. The lawyers recon mission. Then finally the daring rescue.

It would be really funny if she accepted Hollywoods' offer, on the condition they pay her one ton of gold (24,000 troy ounces) in pre 1933 gold coins.
None of that unconstitutional paper bank note crud the Fed Reserve keeps pushing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see JAG come up with an eerily similar scenario. I thought we might see a few Iraq War related episodes in the fall. This particular story is sure to unfold with Harm leading the way into the hospital.
