NEW LOCATION FOR HUGE D.C. RALLY FOR AMERICA, SATURDAY, APRIL 12
Citizens United Foundation ^ | Saturday, April 5, 2003 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/05/2003 9:58:15 AM PST by kristinn

The Rally for the Troops, Rally for America being organized by Citizens United and Young America's Foundation in Washington, D.C. from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 has been moved to a location away from the anti-war rally and march being held by C.A.N.S.W.E.R. the same day and time.

The support our troops rally, co-sponsored by the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, will now be held on the Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets, NW. This area of the Mall is also between the Capitol and the Air & Space museums.

The nearest Metro stations are Federal Center, L'Enfant Plaza, Smithsonian, Judiciary Square and Archives/Navy Memorial. A little further away are Union Station, Federal Triangle, and Capitol South.

Those driving to D.C. from out of state might do well to utilize the parking lots at the outlying Metro stations just off the interstates as you approach the Beltway.

Street and pay lots/garages are available in town. Come early for the best spots as this is one of the busiest tourist times with the cherry blossoms in bloom.

Click here for a detailed map of downtown D.C.

Those attending are asked to bring American flags, large and small and signs bearing messages supporting our troops and the U.S.A. Citizens United also is asking for people to bring: "Donations for the troops. If you would like to bring something, they are asking for: baby wipes, sunscreen, lip balm, pre-paid international calling cards, and letters of support."

For more information about the rally and Citizens United, click the source link above.

Along with other co-sponsors of the rally, the D.C. Chapter will have a booth or table there. Stop by and say hello.

Headlining the rally will be G. Gordon Liddy and country music star Aaron Tippin. From the announcement, "There will also be a special video presentation for the troops featuring country music legends Toby Keith, Travis Tritt, the Charlie Daniel’s Band and Ben Stein of Comedy Central."

Please make the extra effort to come out for this one. The tide has shifted against the so-called "anti-war" movement, but they did have an effect on troop morale. It's important that those who support the troops and their mission make a loud public statement in our nation's capital. Our troops have given their all for us, the least we can do is give up an afternoon to stand up for them.

FWIW G Gordon Liddy is promoting a rally on the ellipse the same day, via his daily radio program. There's strength in numbers...

I'm sorry that the C.A.N.S.W.E.R. group won't be within listening distance not that they'd want to be presented with the truth.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning; it smells like victory!

Hey Martin, SURFS UP!

It's the same rally. They had to move it because of the original location's close proximity to the violence-prone peaceniks.

Headlining the rally will be G. Gordon Liddy and country music star Aaron Tippin.

Sorry about the miscue- I see the rallies are one and the same. I misread the locations and thought they were separate events.

note to self: read, then re-read before posting-

DC Chapter bump

No problem. What is a problem is that this is the third announced location for the rally. I hope they are able to straighten out the confusion before Saturday.

Email Alert sent out to the DC Chapter email list! I'm told that there will be radio ads this week giving details of the rally as well as various participants mentioning it on talk radio programs throughout the coming week.

This rally is one that shouldn't be missed. While the anti-war C.A.N.S.W.E.R. people are whining and moaning about the war and carrying on their anti-Bush, anti-American campaign, the rest of us will be out on the Mall cheering on and supporting the men and women fighting the wars (Iraq and Terrorism) and recognizing those who have died, been captured, reported missing or wounded in service to their country. God bless them all.

A friend of mine who works in the media got a publicity email from Liddy's office announcing the rally.

Here's hoping it's huge.

Here's hoping that everyone gets notified that the location has been changed!

The DC Chapter has a huge list of people who wanted to be informed of the next rally in D.C. I hope that they can attend with lots of friends and family so D.C. has thousands (better yet, tens of thousands) in attendance at the rally to support our troops.

Hope you reserved a suite for the party! LOL. FReep On!
