Operation Military Pride is proud to be organizing the committee to present the first annual Rally for Support of our military, Operation Yellow Ribbon! On Armed Forces Day, May 17, 2003, we will be hosting a support rally at the Lincoln Memorial Monument to show our support for all of our deployed military members. We are teaming up with many other organizations in trying to show our men and women overseas that they are not forgotten.
With all of the attention being focused on anti-war rallies and human shields voluntarily leaving for Iraq, we thought it was just as important to focus some of our attention on supporting those who are away from their friends and family, fighting for the freedom of others.
This rally will take place in the vicinity of the Lincoln Memorial Monument/Reflecting Pool from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m. and will end with a candle lighting ceremony, honoring those who are deployed. We are asking everyone who can attend to bring a picture of their loved ones with them, as well as any other banners or signs (tactful and peaceful) that you wish.
For those of you who would like to come show your support we will have cards and banners for signing as well as booths to videotape messages for deployed service members. We were able to procure discounted room rates as well from $79 per night. Follow link to reserve your room.
Our committee is currently awaiting verification from keynote speakers and others who may make appearances at this event. This historic event is guaranteed to be an entertaining day for the entire family. We will have plenty of events for children as well as adults and will have plenty of freebies for those who attend.
T-shirts and hats are available for those who would like them. or they will be available at the meet and greet as we cannot sell on the premises. All proceeds from this event will go to purchasing and sending care packages to deployed service members. This is a fantastic opportunity to show your support for our fighting men and women. Regardless of your opinion on the politics of these deployments, it is important to let those fighting know that they have our support.
If you would like to participate, but cannot get to Washington D.C., we are trying to get local walks and support rallies to run concurrent with ours nationwide. Please contact us if you would like to help organize a local rally.
If you represent a business or organization, and would like to help sponsor this event, please contact us so that we can discuss how we can help you support your armed sevice members.
