Well since you are now the "gentleman" police make sure you send me a ticket so I can be a gentleman police scofflaw.

Care to tell me what you found so offensive to S.C. since I never mentioned that state? Maybe while your so insulted you could explain to me why I need to not say there is too many people dying in his family?

Sir, I believe you had better go back and read that again. I do believe that you were compared to the people at DU, possibly being like them.

I really doubt Ernest Hollings is going to be lurking on FR anytime soon. I don't know the family and won't fake sympathy for a person I don't know. It would be innapropriate for me to wring my hands over the death of a person I've never heard of.

For God's sake man, you don't have to fake sympathy but you don't have to be an absolute cretin about it. Weren't you taught even basic manners?

Do you only read obits and news items of people and stories that you are intimately aquainted with? I read many stories about those that I won't show up to their wake and I wouldn't say not pretending to be sorrowful for them is rude. I didn't wish his family ill or make a political statement and then dance on someone's grave.

You seem to be insulted that I don't have any personal feelings about the death of someone I don't know. I feel bad about his poor grandchild walking in on her dead mother but how is me saying that on a thread on FR going to help her feel better?

As for insulting S.C., well I really don't care if some folks from S.C. are so insulted that people who don't live there aren't all worked up over the daughter of a S.C. Senator fell over dead in her kitchen. (Insert you "Well, I never" right here.)

If S.C. can handle having Ernest Hollings as a senator since the 60s or so I guess they can survive me not running to the kleenex box over this news story.

(Actually I bet you have.)

Senator Hollins is a son of South Carolina, he is in the public eye and is therefore "known" to me. Although our families have mutual friends, I have never met the Senator. I still have respect for the fact that he has lost his daughter and his granddaughter has lost her mother. As one human to another, I will extend my sympathies.

As to my responses, they are only to specific posts. If that is what you said and you are the person that had the posting pulled by the moderator, than there was something more and it was offensive to someone, enough for them to have hit the abuse button.

For the last time. I used a fake (if that's possible in the written word) southern accent and a reworded the phrase Rush uses when he talks about Hollings to say he has had too many people dying in his family.

Apparently some are too thick to understand this and others never read the original post and yet still find it in themselves to get all worked up.

If you read the article it's clear he has a lot of deaths in his family in the last few years.

FR does allow for a little inside humor making a point at times. Some people can't seem to remember this on this thread. Others I guess just want to be insulted.

Some of you folks expect me to cry on cue like Clinton or something.

Here goes again.

"There's too much dyin goin on out dere" That means there's too many people in his family going over to the other side lately.

I didn't say he deserved the tradgedy. I didn't say I hope he has more of it. I didn't even say he's had just enough tradgedy.

I don't cry when a Kennedy dies because I don't know them and don't have any ties to them. It's not like a family member dying or a neighbor or friend. I didn't light a candle when Sonny Bono died and I won't light one when the truck driver from walla walla is in the obit page.

Look I could hit the abuse button on this reply and it wouldn't mean it was in bad taste or rude. If it got pulled it would be for a dumb reason and it's not like that never happens. Moderators make mistakes because they're human and humans aren't perfect. I've actually had a reply pulled before that said (in it's entirety) "please god smite our enemies". Some nanny found it offensive that I asked god to smite our enemies and found a moderator that believed that was actually inciting violence. Anything is possible when you have humans involved. I'll type it again I never said anything ill about Hollings or his family. I used a humorous (to some and not others) means of saying he had too much tradjedy in his life. I was then accused of insulting his family having no compasion for his grandaughter and apparently this even is a dueling offense for some South Carolinians.

If I'm wrong I have no problem admitting it and saying I'm sorry but I'm not wrong for not being all broken up over this tradjedy. If my mom dies in a car wreck, God forbid it, I'm not going to expect Sen. Hollings to go online, read the story, and then send out an email prayer wheel to make me feel better.

Ern, it's cheese and grits...

Rice and gravy, taters and gravy, but always cheese and grits or shrimp 'n grits.

Okay. I'm going to a neutral corner and I don't feel like fighting anymore.LOL

The worst part about getting a reply pulled is all the freepmail you get asking "What did you say?! What did you do?!"

I prefer biscuits and gravy over two eggs over easy all on top of some hash browns with a little hot sauce and black pepper for flavor. Unless the sausage is done right then only a little pepper.

I can only do that a few times a year or my wife will start buying the home cholesterol test kit.

The best was when my buddy in the Navy took me down to his parents farm in N.C. for a weekend. Kinda funny watching a Japanese lady working in a southern kitchen all day.

A heifer died while I was there and I got the feeling they thought I was bad luck after that. The calf didn't appreciate being carried back to the truck by Greg at all and left some used up grazing material all over the front of his clothes.

There is too much dying going on around here.

If that's all you said and your post was pulled, the mods are way out of line.

There's either rules or not. I'm getting tired of these forum Nazis making it up as they go along.

I am sorry to hear this.. always sad.

It's tempered however.. Not because he's a democrat, but because Hollings and other popular figures have millions to pray for them and express sympathy. They never go through these things alone, there's always an arm extended for them in situations like this. Always someone there to provide comfort and mourn with them. Drop a card in the mail or what have you..

My greatest sympathy goes to people who don't have this luxury, and are truly alone in their grief.
