You've Seen the Movie . . .
You've Read the Book . . .
Now Hear from One Who Was Actually There . . .

LZ Xray . . . In November 1965, 450 U.S. soldiers were dropped into a small clearing in the Ia Drang Valley.
They were surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese soldiers . . .

LZ Albany . . . Three days later, a sister battalion engaged in a vicious fire-fight only two and a half miles away. . .

Together, these actions at landing zones X-Ray and Albany constituted one of the most savage and significant battles of the Vietnam War.

This Month's Featured Speaker:
. . . Known to "Freepers" and Hugh Hewitt Radio Show Listeners as "Aloha Ronnie". . .
Lt. Col. Hal G. Moore's Personal Radioman/Driver/Orderly Purple Heart Veteran of "The Battle That Changed The War In Vietnam"
Ronnie Guyer

A witness to the Heroism of many while carrying our Hero Killed and Wounded to Helicopters, Ronnie Guyer has a fascinating story to relate. This is the battle immortalized in the book and the hit movie "We Were Soldiers" starring Mel Gibson as Lt. Col. Hal G. Moore.

In the first significant engagement between American troops and the Viet Cong, 450 U.S. soldiers found themselves surrounded and outnumbered by their enemy. This is the story of how they battled between 23 October and 26 November 1965. Come hear the gritty, powerful punch of here-and now descriptions that could only be related by someone actually on the scene.

"After the battle of IA DRANG, Lt. Col. Moore hand wrote out his letters of condolances to the families and loved ones of our nearly 500 casualties of IA DRANG. He wrote them up, I typed them up."

At bottom, this is a tale of heroes and heroism, some acts writ large, others probably forgotten but for this telling.

In addition, as Citizen Activist ALOHA RONNIE, Ronnie Guyer became active on Talk Radio/TV, on the FreeRepublic.com and in the battle to save the Long Beach Navy Base from the Communist Chinese, among many other important battles.

Don't miss this opportunity to meet and hear from "Aloha Ronnie" Guyer!

What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.

Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly (see www.BrantukForAssembly.org)

You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome. And admission is always free.

Y'all have fun.... I enjoyed the time I went a couple of years ago.

I'd go again if it weren't for the 3000 mile drive, and the fact my friend, Buffy, ain't welcome in Kalifornia.

I am always saddened to hear of the many failed military adventures that we seemed to go through in that era.

How interesting to see that our professional soldiers today, with their updated tactics and equipment, seem to go like a knife through butter when they put the pedal to the metal.

I guess the difference is "political will." So much of this we have to thank Ronald Reagan for. He built the current military we have today into the mightiest force the world has ever known.

How interesting it might be to go back to N. Korea (or even Vietnam) and finish up our business there.

Actually, from Mobile Riverine area south of Saigon, Xuan Loc, Blackhorse, all places in between to Ham Tan on the coast. Our base camp was Bearcat but I only spent 3 days there, one day each time.
