It's True: 'Liberals' Wanted Saddam to Beat U.S.

It's True: 'Liberals' Wanted Saddam to Beat U.S.

Gary Kamiya, executive editor of the left-leaning Internet journal Salon, confirms what some Americans have suspected: Liberals were cheering for the enemy in Iraq, the Washington Times pointed out today in an item headlined "Cheering the enemy."

"I have a confession: I have at times, as the war has unfolded, secretly wished for things to go wrong," Kamiya wrote. "Wished for the Iraqis to be more nationalistic, to resist longer. Wished for the Arab world to rise up in rage. Wished for all the things we feared would happen. I'm not alone: A number of serious, intelligent, morally sensitive people who oppose the war have told me they have had identical feelings."

But surely, you object, these "serious, intelligent, morally sensitive" liberals couldn't possibly favor a mass-murdering, torture-loving dictator? Surely they couldn't agree with "Latino studies" assistant professor Nicholas De Genova, who told a cheering crowd of appeasement activists at Columbia University that he "would like to see a million Mogadishus." Think again.

More dead American troops would have been preferred to the "larger moral negative" of a victory that boosted President Bush's chances for re-election, according to the Salon big.

"Many antiwar commentators have argued that once the war started, even those who oppose it must now wish for the quickest, least-bloody victory followed by the maximum possible liberation of the Iraqi people," Kamiya wrote. "But there is one argument against this: What if you are convinced that an easy victory will ultimately result in a larger moral negative — four more years of Bush, for example, with attendant disastrous policies, or the betrayal of the Palestinians to eternal occupation, or more imperialist meddling in the Middle East or elsewhere?

"Wishing for things to go wrong is the logical corollary of the postulate that the better things go for Bush, the worse they will go for America and the rest of the world."

Thus goes the reasoning at Salon, which is moderate compared to the hateful rantings of some U.S. leftists.

How ironic that the more these "liberals" reveal themselves to America, the more they boost a president they so despise.

Well, there it is boys and girls for all the world to see. The left wanted us to lose all along. They admit it.

I can guarantee not one of these liberals had a son or daughter in Iraq.

This is one order I would disobey and take the consequences. I will carry to my grave the pride I took wearing my dress blues 30 some odd years ago. The General can never take that away.

So great is their hatred of Republican/Conservatives that they would rather see 10's of thousands, even millions of people murdered by a dictator, than to see Republican Ideas prevail.

I think it's unfair to paint "liberals" with that brush. I live in downtown Seattle, and am surrounded by liberal freaks but I couldn't honestly say that I know one "liberal" who feels the same way as the person the author points out as an example.

Had the author used the word "Leftists" I would have agreed 100%.

There's a difference between "Conservatives" and "Right-Wingers" and there's a difference between "Liberals" and "Leftists".

In my mind anyway.

I'm going to print this out and distribute it to every Vet, and active duty person that I know and their loved ones.

I'm especially going to give it to some senior citizen Vets that I know that still insist on voting for Democrats. (FDR/Truman Demos)

This was the real hope and purpose of the Vietnam era liberals as well. It didn't work for them this time.

Well, it's not a secret anymore. And once the word starts getting around and you start losing business, will you blame McCarthyism?

Here is a link to the SF-IMC site where these FAR LEFT LIBERALS posted an actual pic (below) of one of their Support Saddam/Terrorists events recently and changed the image when I posted/linked it to an FR thread. The pic at the top of that link of 2 Allied Soldiers transporting a prisoner to Gitmo was what they changed it to . . .

These folks at San Francisco Indy-Media are terrorist supporters . . .

Oh, the lurkers on FR from SF-IMC CANNOT change that picture (above) now since it is hosted by FR friendly sources !

What if you are convinced that an easy victory will ultimately result in a larger moral negative — four more years of Bush

The harder victory he wishes for would no doubt lead to more American troops dying in Iraq just so Bush might not be re-elected. How low can you get.

Yet another reason the hope for the total demise of Salon and the anti-war left. Although they live in this country, these people aren't Americans. I don't know what they are (besides scumbags!).

Well, then you are in the wrong place. I WORK in downtown Seattle. I have plenty of the military hating, conservative hating pukes working right here in this office I work in. They plead for the Klintons to come back. They bitch each and every day, I MEAN EVERY DAY, that Bush is not the president, that Algore won, that Patty Osamma Mamma Murray is the greatest and said nothing wrong, that Baghdad Jim McDemwit is the greatest and should be the next governor after our Red Chinese governor Locke has gone his way. They hate everything American, except the paychecks. They argue about every stinking dime, that someone else got more than them, but they still yep about the rich! @$$holes every stinking one of them.
