Please help locate my uncle. He was last seen in Joplin, MO, on April 23rd. His car was found locked and stuck up to its frame in mud off a country road south of North Platte, Nebraska. There are no clues as to his whereabouts (see article at link)

If any of you live in the Western Nebraska area, I'd appreciate any information you might have.

To all of you wonderful Freepers, One last thank you for all of your support and prayers when my Uncle Al was missing. You'll never know how much it meant.

As a sort of tribute to my uncle Al who was lost, but now is found, I'm posting his obituary, taken from the Joplin Globe Online:

Obituaries

Obituaries Published: 2003-05-11

Albert Cignetti

Albert E. Cignetti, age 70, 2908 South Patterson, Joplin, Mo., died approximately May 1, 2003 of an apparent heart attack, while seeking vehicle assistance on a rural farm road near McCook, Neb.

Mr. Cignetti was born in Joplin, Mo. on July 26, 1932 to Albert Ernest Cignetti and Alice Mae (Emmert) Cignetti, both deceased.

He attended Joplin schools and, after serving in the U.S. Navy he attended Wichita State University and was employed at Boeing Aircraft. After moving to California he was employed at Lockheed. He was married to Mary Tomasi in San Jose, Calif. from 1964 to 1974. They had one son, Michael. Albert was a mechanical drafting engineer with IBM in Beaverton, Ore. before retiring. In the late 1990s he returned to his hometown of Joplin.

Albert was a Roman Catholic, a Korean Conflict Veteran and a VFW member. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Albert Cignetti and Christina (Lamirato) Cignetti, two small grandchildren, Enzo and Alessandra Cignetti, all of San Jose; one brother, Ron Cignetti, Joplin; four sisters and brothers-in-law, John and Mary Welch, Joplin, Jim and Carol Gaskill, Joplin, Loyal and Nancy Mayer, Ft. Worth, Texas, Shirley LePage and Jim LePage, Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Cignetti, St. Louis, widow of a brother, Robert Cignetti, who preceded him in death. Other survivors include one maternal aunt, Josephine Johnson, Joplin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Known to family and friends as ‘Al', he was a helpful and beloved father and a kind and caring brother. Al enjoyed his twice yearly trips to San Jose to visit his family and especially fishing with his son, Mike. He will be forever missed. "CAIO AL".

Al has been taken for cremation.

A memorial mass will be Saturday, May 17, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church.

May he rest in peace.

Sorry to read about your Uncle Al. My Uncle Al died when he was 39 years old, the only one of my mom's 5 brothers to die and that was over 25 years ago. He was an uncle very close to me and I think about him often. I was just out with my cousin, his only son, last night. My heart goes out to you, your family, and Uncle Al's family and friends.

I am saddened by the news of your uncle Al. In his picture he looked like a kindly, friendly man -- one who you would like to sit with and talk to.

I hope comforting angels were with him as he passed, and that they are with all members of the family who mourn him.

I'm also glad we were here for you and have helped your family during this difficult time.
