Hillary`s New York Problem
Seamax ^ | May 6, 2003 | Fr. Michael Reilly

Posted on 05/06/2003 9:10:15 AM PDT by Hugenot

A crowded field with no clear frontrunner has fueled speculation the Senator Hillary Clinton (D, NY) may enter the 2004 Presidential race.

Two recent polls conducted within New York indicate that she is facing obstacles even within her "home" state of New York.

In addition to a recent poll which showed her narrowly trailing President Bush in a potential head-to-head matchup, two more polls indicate that she continues to carry high negatives.

A recent Marist College poll rated her job performance at 47% good/excellent, while 49% rated her fair/poor.

Likewise, a Zogby poll revealed 47% positive with 51% rating her either fair or poor.

A lagging economy, particularly in upstrate New York has had a major impact on approval ratings for most politicians.

Nevertheless, a lagging economy is just what Clinton and many Democrats are hoping for by 2004.

It occurs to me that if Hillary were to wait until 2008 to run for President, she would be making the assumption that she would be re-elected to the Senate in 2006.

If Hillary thinks her chances of re-election in 2006 are doubtful (and they are) then 2008 looks less inviting also. Another reason she will strike while the iron is (somewhat) hot and run in 2004.

Everytime I hear her shrieking voice, which is only for a few seconds until I can change the channel, I am reminded of the Dudley Moore movie "Arthur" where he stumbles up to the wrong apartment door in the middle of the night and an old hag opens the door:

The old hag, in a high pitch shrill shriek at the top of her lungs proclaims "MY HUSBANDS GOT A GUN!!!"

To which Arthur replies "Yes madam and for all I know he shot it while you screamed".

I swear it sounds just like her, and I think that is the image most people will think of when and if she gets involved in running for president. They can air brush her pictures and apply tons of make-up but the haunting shrill voice will be too much to overcome.

It is my firm belief that Hillary would murder to get back to the White House. Having said that though, I have to agree. She is too polarizing, mean spirited, vindictive, spiteful, treasonous, felonius, untrustworthy, unsavory, distasteful, repugnant, repulsive, reptillian, and larvae-like to be legally elected president. I wouldnt put leading an overthrow of the Government and suspension of the Constitution an inch past her...

Why won't anybody mention that very important fact. Daniel Patrick Moynihan handed Hillary her seat, and the votes that she couldn't produce, she had her husband "pardon" family members, and did other such tricks.

And she was a female in feminist NYC.

A stuffed plus toy would have won 49 states against Bob Dole. Campaign slogan: "Bob Dole, because the GOP is resigned to having Clinton in the White House for another 4 years!"

The problem with Bob Dole is that he didn't bring his military service up 20 times a day, just like John Kerry.

When Clinton questioned his support of the elderly, Dole should have snapped about his arm, eye, etc. and how his views have changed since he first started serving his country. He didn't have time to sit in the USSR and think of everything wrong with America.

The Democratic Party's Problem Transcends Its Anti-War Contingent

by Mia T, 4.6.03

If Act I was a thinly veiled allegory about naked clintonism, then Act II is a parable about the plan for world domination by the Establishment, aged hippies in pinstripes all, with their infantile, solipsistic world view amazingly untouched by time.

Mia T, THE ALIENS

Al From is sounding the alarm. "Unless we convince Americans that Democrats are strong on national security," he warns his party, "Democrats will continue to lose elections."

Helloooo? That the Democrats have to be spoon-fed what should be axiomatic post-9/11 is, in and of itself, incontrovertible proof that From's advice is insufficient to solve their problem.

From's failure to fully lay out the nature of the Democrats' problem is not surprising: he is the guy who helped seal his party's fate. It was his Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) that institutionalized the proximate cause of the problem, clintonism, and legitimized its two eponymic provincial operators on the national stage. The "Third Way" and "triangulation" don't come from the same Latin root for no reason.

That "convince" is From's operative word underscores the Democrats' dilemma. Nine-eleven was transformative. It is no longer sufficient merely to convince. One must demonstrate, demonstrate convincingly, if you will… which means both in real time and historically.

When it comes to national security, Americans will no longer take any chances. Turning the turn of phrase back on itself, the era of the Placebo President is over. (Incidentally, the oft-quote out-of-context sentence fragment alluded to here transformed meaningless clinton triangulation into a meaningful if deceptive soundbite.)

Although From is loath to admit it -- the terror in his eyes belies his facile solution -- the Democratic party's problem transcends its anti-war contingent.

With a philosophy that relinquishes our national sovereignty -- and relinquishes it reflexively… and to the UN no less -- the Democratic party is, by definition, the party of national insecurity.

With policy ruled by pathologic self-interest -- witness the "Lieberman Paradigm," Kerry's "regime change" bon mot (gone bad), Edwards' and the clintons' brazen echoes thereof (or, alternatively, Pelosi's less strident wartime non-putdown putdown)… and, of course, the clincher -- eight years of the clintons' infantilism, grotesquerie and utter failure -- the Democratic party is, historically and in real time, the party of national insecurity.

The Democrats used to be able to wallpaper their national insecurity with dollars and demogoguery. But that was before 9/11.

The REAL "Living History" -- clintoplasmodial slime

I will say this, there are alot of people who don't like Hillary Clinton who don't normally vote. If she where to run I get the feeling this group would get real active, even alot of women I talk to do not like mrs. Clinton.

Oh how I pray we never have another Clinton in office.

Uh, you might want to take a look at D.C.
Theres are alot of buildings there with things in them called "Government Workers".

Of course that is the only type of job these fools can create.

Hilary winning New York is the same as Gay Davis winning California, two liberal democrats are going to win in very liberal states. But by the same token once they are elected they are subject to voter discontent and remorse when things go bad (which is the current situation). Even so, liberals being what they are, Gay and Hilary would probably still be re-elected if the elections were held today. But there is a big difference between New York, California and the rest of the U.S. and mainstream America will never vote for Hilary Clinton. There's still some bias against voting for a woman (even by some women!) and that's any woman, much less Hilary. Putting Hilary up in 2004 or 2008 would be the best thing that could happen to Republicans.

Hey, Kalifornia (which I am a part of but am preparing to leave) is responsible for insanity the degree to which is unmeasurable in modern times.

If the US worked according to the coastal idiots, at this very moment al Quaida would be hitting us with a nuke he bought from Saddam while Gore allows the UN "more time" while taking campaign contributions from Klinton interns.

Im with you. DU notwithstanding, most Americans aren't THAT stupid. The only reason the First Sleaze was elected was because the Bush-Sr-started economic upturn was in full gear and he got to ride the wave.

LOL on your comment "What did reptiles or larvae ever do to you?"

Consider the classic movie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Hillary! is a pod person -- but the interesting wrinkle is she is hee OWN pod person. No aliens (other than her) are involved. She does, however, spawn other pod persons, such as Squid Blumenthal.

"a lagging economy is just what Clinton and many Democrats are hoping for by 2004"

That's how the clintoonians took office in '92. Still remember day after the November elections of '91, opened the paper to read in large headlines that the economy wasn't so bad after all. Nevermind, that the public was bombarded day after day in the mainstream media and clintoon hammered repeatedly on the campaign trail that the nation's economy was bad, dire straits, and only the clintoons would give us relief.
