Student auctions off virginity to pay for studies

A Chilean student is auctioning off her virginity to raise the money to complete her studies.

The 21-year-old, from Santiago, told La Cuarta online: "I will provide a certificate signed by a doctor to prove I am a virgin. No man has ever touched me."

The auction is being conducted by Chilean radio station W Radio CRC and the opening bid was £350.

Station director Mariano Perez said: "I am personally against this kind of thing but people are free to do what they want with their lives."

The only thing I'd ask people is to think of all the women who lose their virginity for a lot less to guys who won't be around any longer. At least whores have the good sense to get paid for what they dish out. All too many women just give it away for free.

Interesting question for libertarians. Why should anyone care what this young woman does? She wants money for college. She's willing to give up her virginity for money toward that goal.

I don't see a problem with the scenario. Let her have at it. I won't be bidding, so it doesn't affect me in any way.

She looked at her balance sheet to get a good inventory of her assets, then is trying to turn her assets into cash flow (statement of cash flows) in order to invest into an intangible asset (education) that hopefully will provide her with future income (income statement) and cash flow! Of course she is selling her assets at the highest market price by marketing her assets through the largest possible distribution channel she could find (radio station?).
