TERRI SCHIAVO, SCHINDLER FAMILY - URGENT!!! Call to Action

CALL TO ACTION
REGARDING: Terri Schiavo
Please read and forward.

Friends,

You may already know Terri Schiavo's situation. Many of you have personally expressed your concern about this tragedy that is currently unfolding in the Florida Courts.

Matters got worse on Friday, July 10th, when Terri's family was informed that the appellate court would provide no relief. In two weeks, Terri's case will head back to Judge George Greer's court where he will order Terri's starvation death to commence.

Terri's family intends to do everything possible to stop this action, but time is running out FAST. One hope - perhaps the only hope - is Florida's Governor, Jeb Bush. He has the authority to grant a 'stay' while he conducts an investigation to determine the actual cause of Terri's mysterious collapse. Here's why he should intercede:

For over 10 years, Terri's husband, Michael Schiavo, sealed Terri's medical records from inspection. Only recently, doctors other than those selected by Michael Schiavo, reviewed these medical records. It was found that a heart attack did not cause Terri's collapse as everyone was led to believe. Rather, according to one physician, Terri may have been a strangulation victim. In addition, a radiologist concluded that Terri was "worked over pretty good".

After reviewing the newly found evidence and professional opinions, the consensus strongly suggests that Terri may have been physically battered by her husband Michael Schiavo, thus causing Terri's asphyxiation and ensuing heart failure. This new information is too incriminating to be ignored, it must be investigated.

The following link is a petition to Governor Bush regarding Terri's case that asks him to "stay" any further legal proceedings until an investigation can be made. You too can help Terri, but she needs you to act immediately. In 14 days, her fight could be over.

Please go to http://petitionjeb.netfirms.com/. If you have difficulty or the site becomes busy, you can try www.geocities.com/phenn.

If you could sign your name & your city at the bottom and click the submit button. It will only take a moment of your time and your information is confidential.

If you would also like to personally write the Governor, his email is jeb@jeb.org. You can also fax Governor Bush @ 850-922-4292, or you can call his office @ 850-488-4441.

If you are not familiar with all the aspects of this case, you visit the family's web site on www.terrisfight.org to learn more about the legal battle.

You are welcome to telephone me personally if I may answer any questions or provide any additional information.

Finally, if you could, please forward this email along to every person you know and ask that they do the same. With everything I have in me, I beg you to act as quickly as possible. Please do not turn your back on this innocent woman.

Thank you on Terri's behalf and on behalf of the family and friends who love her.

Signed and bumped! Here is the background information on Terri. If her husband gets away with this, that would be murder, pure and simple.

Terri was 26 years old when she suffered brain damage from a sudden collapse.  Terri receives her food and water by means of a food tube, commonly referred to as a "straw." Terri’s other bodily functions are physically stable. Terri smiles, laughs and cries. Terri recognizes voices and responds. At times, she vocalizes sounds as if she is trying to speak. Terri is not a brain dead vegetable as characterized by her husband and legal guardian, Michael Schiavo nor a houseplant as implied by his attorney.  Terri is not on a respirator or any artificial life support. She is a living human being and needs to be granted an opportunity to recover. Terri has not had any progressive rehabilitation or arousal therapy in more than ten years.

In a trial initiated by Michael Schiavo, Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer, issued a verdict delivered on February 11, 2000. Judge Greer granted authorization to discontinue Terri’s feeding tube. Judge Greer’s verdict will cause Terri to die in 10 to 14 days. Terri’s death will be by painful starvation.

In a malpractice lawsuit, Terri’s husband personally received over $300,000 for his loss of consortium. Terri was awarded $750,000 from this suit and an additional $250,000 from a separate malpractice lawsuit. The money was awarded to Terri for her care and rehabilitation and to be placed in a Medical Trust Fund.  Terri’s husband received his personal award money and Terri’s medical fund money in early 1993. From the date he received the award money in 1993, Michael Schiavo has denied Terri any rehabilitation treatment. Michael Schiavo has confined Terri to a nursing home (currently, Terri is in a Hospice facility) where she is 'maintained.'

Her husband has directed that Terri only be sustained in a nursing home which is contrary to the intent of the award money.  Michael Schiavo has on two occasions unsuccessfully attempted to end Terri’s life by instructing her caretakers not to medicate Terri for potentially fatal infections. The first occasion occurred less than nine months after her husband received the malpractice award money.

That sounds more plausible than the potassium shortage.

Maybe one of the doctors here a FR could explain something about her condition. The original diagnosis for her heart attack was a low potassium count. I can't understand how a healthy person with no kidney disease could get such a low K count and get a severe heart attack which must have been an arrhythmia; can this be?

I have a thought. In the event that the tube is pulled, wouyld not a coroner have to get involved at that point? Wouldn't the coroner be in the position to discover if Terri's condition was the result of a crime? Wouldn't Terri's husband be potentially be charged with murder? That could mean pressure could be brought to bear against her husband not to pursue her death.

Yes, but apparently the husband or someone is well connected enough to have covered up the evidence for ten years. If she dies the coroner may not even do an autopsy. I believe the family can waive it. In terms of convicting the husband, it is better if Terri remains alive. If she dies he is home free.

I don't have much adult cardiac experience but that would be my guess. Potassium and other electrolyte imbalances cause irregular electrical activity in the heart. I've never heard that described as a heart attack per se. I had a nurse friend who went on the Atkins diet and her electrolytes, potassium particularly, became very depleted. Her doctors freaked.

Well, I hope she does remain alive. But I think the family could do something if she died. The family only can waive the autopsy if the authorities don't intervene. since this is a high-profile case, I have no doubt they can get an autopsy done.

I think the only family member who has any legal authority in this case is the husband.

The District Attorney can definitely order an autopsy, even if the family doesn't want it.

I'm on Atkins now; however, I take about 300 mg. potassium every day to counteract all the sodium I am consuming. My blood pressure dropped 40 points already!

Thankyou for pinging me to this. I signed the petition and added this as a comment:

"This is a living, breathing, beautiful woman who deserves to live and make her own choices. Please allow her family (parents), who love her, to make decisions on her behalf until her recovery is such that she can make decisions for herself."

Hope it helps.
