OP: EXPANDING FREEPDOM Update -- Build the Free Republic Blog Network!
7/24/2003

Posted on 07/23/2003 9:42:28 PM PDT by Political Numbers Guy

Operation Expanding Freepdom continues to grow by leaps and bounds with new Freeper blogs coming out of the woodwork and joining our network everyday. I can barely keep up! Thank you to everyone who has participated so far, and if you want to know how to start your own blog, read on or click here, here, or here.

Despite sensible voices like Andrew Sullivan, James Lileks, and Glenn Reynolds, blogging is being portrayed as the medium for left-wing candidates and activists. Therefore, I'd like to begin a feature where we spotlight leading examples of conservative activism in the blogosphere. Here are three excellent election-oriented blogs that are taking the fight right to the liberals. Visit them, bookmark them, and link to them:

BushBlog.us
BushCheney2004
PoliPundit.com

And... drumroll please!... here is the latest Free Republic Blog Directory as part of Operation Expanding Freepdom!

Adam Bishop
A Guy Named Rob
Alphabet City
The Angry Clam
Anna Z.
Ben's Views
Blogolution
The Blog That Care Forgot
Brazos Cantina
The Buzz Blog
Cathryn Crawford
Chad Fairbanks
Everything Politics
Federal Review
Gary Cruse
Imal
MHGinTN
Michael King
Regnum Crucis
Redcloak's Romper Room
Republican Rants
Seamole
Southack
Sparta
The View from Arlen
William McKinley

If you run one of these sites, make sure you link to the blogs on this list. Many of you are new to the medium and are still trying to attract readers. The best, most proven way to get readers is to link to other good conservative blogs and they will in turn link to you. (To see which sites have linked to you, go to Technorati.com and type in your blog address.) This way all the sites get noticed and the Freeper Blog network grows stronger! How do you link to all these sites? It's a snap. Cut and paste this and throw it into your blog template.

OK. I need some help here. I'm looking at my template and I have no idea where to put the list of blogs. I'm kind of like a kindergartener when it comes to HTML and the like. As you can see, I'm just having some fun with fonts over here. Can someone give me a step by step instruction how to add this list of blogs to my template? Something other than just "cut and paste the list and throw it into the template". It's going to end up in a weird spot if I do that, I've already played around with it. Please help.

Anyone know of a free blog that can be placed on your personal website, without having to make one on blogspot?

Try Movable Type. It seems to be the tool of choice among the "cool" bloggers.

On the other hand blogger can publish to any site via ftp I think, read their docs.

I use greymatter. Tried movable type but had configuration problems and gave up on it, found greymatter and was up and running in 30 minutes.. Greymatter is at

http://noahgrey.com/greysoft/

Works fine for me, and can be made to look like you want it to. Look on line for html updates for greymatter, and no, I have no vested financial interest from noah, I just like his program.

You can use one from www.blogger.com and it will ftp it to your site. That's how I do mine, and it's great...

Hey, my blog is on the list above! Cool! That reminds me of something: I'd like to start a ring, a small community of investigative/journalistic blogs. If anyone here is interested in this idea, please email me... right now, mine is mostly opinion but I want to expand.

PNG,

You're effort to "corral" all the FR blogs is great! Has Nick Danger contacted you? We had previously discussed organizing blogs such as these and linking them on the Free Republic Network website. It makes a logical place to list them. I believe Nick is working on the programming to do it and you obviously make the ideal person to supervise this effort. let me know what you think.
