Word For The Day
Monday, September 29, 2003 | Slip 18

Posted on 09/29/2003 7:20:58 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip is watching you. She has a large telescope with her today. She will be yanking you out of class and into the Janitor’s closet if you are evil, and then maybe sending you off to the Principal’s office to refresh your memory on the usage of his learning stick. And, yes, the paddle has those wondrous holes in them.

flatulence noun:
Pronunciation: flat’u-lens Etymology: Flatus – Latin “ a blowing”

Excessive gas in the stomach and intestines.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Now, Vast and xsmommy, play nicely in here today with all the other students! Flurry, you behave yourself, otherwise Nurse Helga will take care of your flatulence in a not so nice way.

I heard Principal Robinson is roaming the halls today, so all of you students be on your best behavior.

You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

"I did so love Vastie's word, but I just couldn't get it up!"

Slippy, mark my words, you will live to regret that double entendre as soon as one of the croqs find it. Probably before noon.

Indeed, flatulence personified...

And those alcohol-saturated farts can be some of the worst.

Homework:

During his race across France, Armstrong was faster in the plains than in the mountains.

But is the extra speed due the the greater thrust possible from flatulence, flatthroughFrance, or merely a faster pedaling Lance?

I love to see their small minds exposed.

Me too!!!

And it appears that some of their books are going to be exposed. According to an article in the NY Post last week, the NY state lobbying commission has a bit of a problem with a group of the anti-groups announcing their $1million ad campaign to fight any changes to the state smoking ban.

It seems none of the groups involved has registered as a lobbying organization spending more than $2,000 for lobbying efforts.

Well, after all, the fat bastard is from Bean Town!

Are you making fun of the fatted fat Ted whose verbal flatulence is farcical and devoid of factuousness?

You are? Good.

It seems each of the Democrat debates are nothing more than a flatulence festival, not as windy as a Hurricane, but still reeking of old liberal platitudes and accusations.

As Sir Lancelot dismounted his horse, he related that he could not participate in the knightly games, as a boulder rolled off a cliff, and crushed his weapons.

King Arthur looked at Sir Lancelot's sword and weapons, all twisted and crushed by the boulder.

"Flatulance, too?" asked the king.

"Yes, sire, I'm afraid 'tis so." And King Arthur excused the good knight from competing in the day's games.

The French want the Pope to interfere with people's flatulence? Wait a sec, I don't think I understood the funny article. Where's this gourmand's F-quad?

I object! You can't give me an A+. I didn't use the word properly. Here, I'll give it another shot:

Some romances are ruined by snoring
Or flatulence, or claims of ignoring
But in beautiful Roma
You need a diploma
To keep your text messages boring

He always was a cut above the competition.

His wooden handle was damaged as well, but it was notching to really worry about.
