POSSIBLE CA EXIT POLLS--LEAKED DATA
Calblog ^ | October 7, 2003 | Armed Prophet

Posted on 10/07/2003 2:47:41 PM PDT by publius1

Apparently Leaked Exit Polling Says... Armed Prophet here, with what I believe is a major scoop, though it may not be entirely surprising.

That is, I'm hearing that early exit polling -- which includes absentees -- already shows the recall and Arnold both with "double digit" leads. (I'm a bit surprised to hear that those numbers are already being tabulated, but this is what I'm told.) Speculation is the race may be called within a few hours of the polls closing.

I obviously can't vouch for it myself -- I'm in DC -- but the source I'm hearing this from is very well-connected in state and national politics; if anybody would know this kind of thing out here, it's this person. So take this information with a bit of caution. But if I'm right, you heard it here first.

I appears that GOP areas may have heavy turnout and Dem areas much less. This would tend to reinforce the idea that Dems don't have sufficient motivation to defend Gray by showing up and voting. But the GOP on the other hand, are extremely motivated.

I hope they're dumb enough to sue. Whatever they gain legally, they'll lose in the court of public opinion. I say let them bring it on!!!

You and me both -- let them file the lawsuits and help Republicans win big in 2004! Just think of the CA Senate race if the RATs file these lawsuits. They just handed the GOP candidate a winning campaign ad!

I say it's a DemocRAT plot to get the Pubbies to go straight home after work.

You do not fill lawsuits over the rout that seems to be hinted at on TV right now.

How many absentee ballots out for SF? Over 3 million statewide...

SF tends to have a high percentage of absentee voters and I am one of them. It usually takes them weeks to count the absentee ballots, unfortunately. Then, last year, they found a solution to that problem, and my ballot is probably already floating in the bay.

If the numbers I heard a short time ago hold up, the RATs would make fools of themselves by filing lawsuits! But then you never know with the DemocRATs!

Believe it is going to be a total blowout -- Davis out by a wide margin and Governor Arnold in by winning big!

"That's because GOP voters tend to W-O-R-K."

A lot of dems work, too. For you. Government employees, school teachers, etc.

Of course they get time off to vote, and will probably take it. But so does everybody, if they want it.

Back when I had a corporate-commuting job, I didn't have the audacity to tell my boss I had to take off part of the day, what with the polls being open from 7 AM until 8 PM.

It is on conservative talk radio out in CA -- they are jubliant right now. Fred Barnes on Fox News said the Arnold folks are sky high!

Republicans will want to join the bandwagon and make sure Davis is ousted -- they will vote!

That's a MoveOn.org sign. I saw similar ones on a car while driving in central Cal yesterday, and found all three in an e-mail I received last Friday from them.

Question: Does CA have an early voting procedure statewide where you can vote at predetermined locations using the same equipment/ballots as if on election day? If so, why do so many opt to vote absentee?

How many absentee ballots out for SF?

I expect them all to be halfway to Hawaii by now, depending on the currents and jetstream.

I never trust exit polls. The California vote tabulation system is fairly quick...we should start getting reliable numbers by about 11 PM tonight, and we'll have an answer by tomorrow morning.

Polls close by 8PM. Ballots have to be into the counties by 9PM. Most counties will simply run the ballots through computerized scanners and have the initial count done in a few hours (one good optical scanner can do nearly 20,000 ballots an hour). Once the counties get their numbers, they dial into the state system, upload their data, and the new state total is calculated within minutes.

"I live here in Thousand Oaks... Next door to WLV... The turn out has been amazing. WLV will have more dems than thousand oaks... hang in there it will be a blow out"

Hey, there, neighbor! I work in T.O., and live in Simi. Polling place is Reagan Library. The line there was incredible this morning -- way more than in the past. Of coruse, Simi is a bit more conservative than WLV.
