1962 Sunday Missal Mass Readings/First Sunday After Pentecost (Trinity Sunday)

Colors:  White

INTROIT
Tobias 12: 6

Blessed be the Holy Trinity and undivided Unity: we will give glory to Him, because He hath shown His mercy to us. -- (Ps. 8. 2). O Lord, our Lord, how wonderful is Thy name in all the earth! V.: Glory be to the Father . . . -- Blessed be the Holy Trinity and undivided Unity . . .

COLLECT - O almighty and everlasting God, who hast granted to Thy servants, in confessing the true Father, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of Majesty to adore the Unity: we beseech Thee, that by steadfastness in the same Faith, we may ever be defended against all adversity. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost . . .1

O God, the strength of those who put their trust in Thee, be kindly attentive to our prayers, and since man's weakness is helpless without Thee, grant the help of Thy grace, that in observing Thy commandments, we may please Thee both in will and in deed. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity . . .

EPISTLE
Romans 11
: 33-36
O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are His judgments, and how unsearchable His ways! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been His counsellor? Or who hath first given to Him, and recompense shall be made Him? For of Him, and by Him, and in Him, are all things: to Him be glory for ever. Amen.

GRADUAL
Daniel 3: 55,56
Blessed art Thou, O Lord, that beholdest the depths and sittest above the Cherubim. V.: Blessed art Thou, O Lord, in the firmament of heaven, and worthy of praise forever.

Alleluia, alleluia. V.(Dan. 3. 52). Blessed art Thou, O Lord, the God of our fathers, and worthy to be praised forever. Alleluia.

GOSPEL
Matthew 28: 18-20

At that time Jesus said to His disciples: All is power given to Me in heaven and on earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

OFFERTORY
Tobias 12:6

Blessed be God the Father, and the only-begotten Son of God, and also the Holy Spirit; because He hath shown His mercy to us.

SECRET - Sanctify, we beseech Thee, O Lord, our God, by the invocation of Thy holy Name, the Sacrifice we offer, and by it make of us an everlasting offering unto Thee. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who . . .

Receive with favor, we beseech Thee, O Lord, our Sacrifices which are being offered, and grant that they may become to us an unceasing help. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth . . .

PREFACE (Preface of the Most Holy Trinity) - It it truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:

COMMUNION
Tobias 12: 6
We bless the God of heaven, and before all living we will praise Him; because He has shown His mercy to us.

POST COMMUNION - O Lord, our God, may the receiving of this Sacrament and the acknowledging of the holy and eternal Trinity and its undivided Unity profit us unto health of mind and body. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee . . .
We who are filled with such precious gifts, beseech Thee, O Lord, that we may obtain graces for salvation, and never cease from Thy praise. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost . . .

Blessed be the Holy Trinity, who invites us through the Holy Spirit to be partakers at table of the only-begotten Son of the Father.

Thanks for posting. Happy Trinity Sunday and here's to 27 weeks of "Per Annum post Pentecosten"!!!

FYI... The second orations from the First Sunday after Pentecost for the Collect, Secret, and Postcommunion should not be there. The First Sunday after Pentecost is no longer commemorated on Trinity Sunday per the change of rules in 1960.

The next two weeks may likewise contain errors...the Octaves of Corpus Christi and the Sacred Heart were suppressed in 1955, and they may include commemorations for those Octaves in the next two Sunday's Masses, respectively. There shouldn't be. Also, the color of the next two Sundays should be Green and not White.

After these Sundays, it should be smooth sailing.

Much obliged, as always.

We had a wonderful Mass today and an excellent sermon - and from a priest who, customarily, says the NO.
