ROME (Reuters) - A judge has ordered best-selling writer and journalist Oriana Fallaci to stand trial in her native Italy on charges she defamed Islam in a recent book.
The decision angered Italy's justice minister but delighted Muslim activists, who accused Fallaci of inciting religious hatred in her 2004 work "La Forza della Ragione" (The Force of Reason).
Fallaci lives in New York and has regularly provoked the wrath of Muslims with her outspoken criticism of Islam following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on U.S. cities.
In "La Forza della Ragione," Fallaci wrote that terrorists had killed 6,000 people over the past 20 years in the name of the Koran and said the Islamic faith "sows hatred in the place of love and slavery in the place of freedom."
State prosecutors originally dismissed accusations of defamation from an Italian Muslim organization, and said Fallaci should not stand trial because she was merely exercising her right to freedom of speech.
But a preliminary judge in the northern Italian city of Bergamo, Armando Grasso, rejected the prosecutors advice at a hearing on Tuesday and said Fallaci should be indicted.

One of Western Civilizations staunchest supporters (who is dying from cancer) is being attacked by muslims who want to silence her from telling the truth about Islam. Free speech is under attack in Italy from Islamofascists.

This persecution is a solid ground for claiming asylum in the US if she wants it.

I've heard of "defamation of
character", but defamation of... a
religious faith???
Never heard of Fallaci, but thank you for bringing her to my attention. Here's another link with more info on Fallaci and her latest book.

It's only when we look at the bigger picture; that we're facing a 14th century culture engaged in a war against us and this is one battle in a much longer war.

Oriana Fallaci may end up being the next Joan of Arc. She has the tenacity to completely unveil islam for what it truly is, a murder cult. May she go to court with a blessing from God. I believe she has cancer now, but her legacy may end up being her gift for all Italians to enjoy. In the event that she is dying, this may cause her to fight on more to educate the ignorant masses in Italy. So get her in court, but be warned..she will be heard in the ears of all Italians.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall during those proceedings.

This persecution is a solid ground for claiming asylum in the US if she wants it.
Even the United States cannot provide a safe haven for those accused of "hate speech".
Ironically, America, once the land of the free and the home of the brave was the birthplace of the resurgence of "modern day" hate speech.
