No, I think I dealt with a different part of that post.

However, I’m more than willing for my denomination to be in consultation with Orthodoxy.

Dear salvation, all I can say to the unbelievers on this thread about devotion to Mary is:

DON’T KNOCK IT IF YOU’VE NEVER TRIED IT!!!

There is information about the intercession of Mary and the saints in the following link:

This is my understanding of to whom and how to ask .
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,
and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit,
and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye
shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask
the Father in my name, he will give [it] you.

John 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name:
and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

I ask b'shem Yah'shua

It doesn’t leave any room for doubt, does it.

"That’s why I usually avoid the bigoted Gamecock threads."

But you just couldn't avoid it this time, huh? And you're not bigoted regarding Baptists, eh?

Not if you believe in the Holy Word of G-d.

But if you believe in man's Tradition, you will believe in anything.

Thank you for your posts. Another freeper posted this link to me on the same subject:

http://www.stpaulsirvine.org/html/lutheran.html

I’m sorry, I don’t know how to do the clicky thing with the link. Altough the article is kinda long and dense in parts it seemed fair to me but then again I’m no expert on the Orthodox or the Reformers. It seems, according to the article, that after much dialogue eventually both sides realized that their differences concerning the role of Holy Tradition were too alien to each other and both sides sorta got frustrated.

The article says that the exact motive the Reformers had in contacting the Orthodox in the first place might never be known. I still don’t know if the Reformers were trying to become part of the Orthodox Church, receive some sort of apostolic recognition, or what. The article does mention possible political motivations on both sides, the Orthodox as an ally for the Reformers against the Catholic Church and the Reformers as an ally for the Orthodox against Islam.

we have Mortal and Venial Sin.. Purgatory Fasting Stations of the Cross Litanies , Novena’s... Liturgy of the Hours...read 5 times daily! A Bible Cared for by Catholcism for Centuries.. I feel Blessed! an Adoration of the Blessed Sacrement! But best of all we get the actual Body and Blood of our lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!AMEN!

Filling one’s life with activities and work serves to reduce the time one commits to studying God’s Word. The Bible is the fullness of God’s revelation to man. It contain the enlightenment He has given and preserved, and is complete.

Why not ratchet down a few of the activities you’ve described, and spend the extra time reading the Bible? May I suggest you begin with Paul’s epistle to the Romans? After all, it was written to “your church”. After that, try the letter to the Hebrews.

I read The Bible every day..
I go to Mass everyday.. The entire Liturgy is taken from the Bible Then we also have Epistles Psalms and the Gospel reading as part of the mass in the Liturgy also everyday which Follows a Calendar.

The Liturgy of the Hours is 75% from the Bible and the Balance is pieces written By Saints of the Church.. also following a calendar....of events.

everything I mentioned Roasary are Prayers taken from the Bible..

Christ expects alot from catholics and many are willing to sacrifice even with fasting !

Do you realize that the bible scriptures in the RCC are carefully selected to support its doctrine, and repeats in a three-year cycle?

What are you missing?

Wow! I merely informed you of the cycle through which the RCC runs its pre-selected Scriptures. This is not some deep, dark secret.

I encourage you to read your Bible directly. Why not start with Paul’s letter to the Romans. After all, isn’t that the same place your church is headquartered? After that, check out Hebrews.

Some people are so full of ego, they feel they are more qualified to tell you what the Bible says than the church. They say we follow man-made religion and then as men/women go out and make their own. Using the same scripture that was given us by Tradition and the Magisterium they try to convince us that we are in error. And from the tone of their posts they get quite frustrated that we don’t accept them as our authority.

Some don’t accept that the whole of the Bible is used in the 3 year cycle and if you attend Mass everyday you will go through the whole Bible. That chapter and verse for Scripture readings for each week are posted in the bulletin for those who can’t attend Mass every day. That we have devotionals which state the scriptures for each day of the year and you can find them all over the internet and right here on FR, Salvation posts them every day. Hers usually include commentary.

Christ and his apostles were very big on unity.( an understatement ) So the Church, the People of God, all read the bible together. We will get to Romans again, but currently we are studying Tobit. Do you have any insights you would like to share about Tobit?
