This thread is incredible to me! I am a Christian, but Christians LOVE debate. What is going on here?

If you do not wish to see Religion Forum posts, do NOT use the “everything” option on the browse. Instead, browse by “News/Activism.” When you log back in, the browse will reset to “everything” - so be sure to set it back to “News/Activism.”

What I still don't understand is why folks post internet prayers to God rather than just, y'know, pray to Him."To be seen of men".

Freerepublic is awesome, but the Religion Forum is a freaking joke. The religion moderator loves all things Catholic; as well as, people who post fake relgions threads that actually put down other relgions and denominations. BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don’t know that I would call it a lie, but it has no basis in fact.

I guess I had a fantasy version of this website, where one could express their opinion. Religion is part of that, as it is a huge part of my lifesytle. Freedom of speech doesnt end when you walk into a church. Are you operating under some sort of delusion that freedom of speech is a universal right? There is no freedom of speech at Free Republic, nor is there at any church in America unless the pastor or congregation decide that there is.

Well, this is really sad. Very sad. Folks praying for Obama, the man who will be the downfall of our country, but on THIS WEBSITE, our voices are surpressed. You said you're a Christian. Didn't Christ ask us to pray for our enemies? And those that mistreat us? Love your neighbor as yourself? Or does your brand of Christianity ignore all of that?

I guess I had a fantasy version of this website, where one could express their opinion. Feel free to do that ... but not on a closed thread that is dedicated to prayers. Don't judge all of FR based on your opinion of one thread.

I found the post amusing.
There are Religion Forum posters who are absolutely convinced I am Catholic. Others that I am Mormon. Others that I am Protestant. And so on.
If I were not being even handed, there would be at least one group that never gets angry at me. LOL!

I was also amused by the whole “fake religion” thing. A religion is a system of beliefs; so, while it can be FALSE, it cannot be FAKE.
But, as far as false religions go, no matter what you believe, the majority of the people in the world will ALWAYS believe you are wrong. Trying to defend what you believe by saying that what others believe is false is really no different than the liberals defending their beliefs by saying, “Anybody but Bush.”
