President Obama carried Miraculous Medal in his pocket [Catholic Caucus]

The lastest issue of French magazine Paris Match has published an interesting photograph of President Obama revealing what he always carries in his pockets. Among the items is a Miraculous Medal. The photo also shows another medal with the image of the Virgin Mary holding the Infant Jesus. (This photo first appeared in Time Magazine in June 2008).

The medal has an association with Medjugorje. On November 27, 1989, Our Lady said to the visionary Marija:

These days, I want you to pray in a special way for the salvation of souls. Today is the feast day of the miraculous medal, and I want that you pray, in a special way, for the salvation of those people who are carrying this miraculous medal. I want you to spread the devotion and carrying of this medal, so that more souls may be saved, and that you pray in a special way.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.

On November 27 1830 at 5:30 pm, during meditation, St Catherine Labouré saw at the present location of the Virgin of the Globe (Rue de Bac) a vision of the Blessed Virgin. She was standing on a globe holding in her hands a small golden globe, her feet crushing a serpent. Coming from the open hands of the Blessed Virgin were beautiful rays of light. At that same moment Catherine heard a voice saying: “These rays are symbols of graces that Mary obtains for people.” Then an oval formed around the vision and Catherine saw emblazoned in a semi-circle this invocation written in gold letters, and until then unknown: “O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to you”. Then the oval turned and Catherine saw on the reverse side, the letter M surmounted with a little cross and below it the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Catherine then heard these words: “Have a medal made as this. Those who wear it with confidence will receive great graces.”

I agree it has done nothing but dilute the message of Fatima which is proven, and don’t think it is a coincidence that Our Lady appeared in Fatima when Mohammad’s daughter’s name was Fatima.....think about it-

If Obama was carrying a Miraculous Medal, it was 100% for P.R. reasons and this fact was revealed to the press deliberately. Carrying a religious medal means nothing per se. Unfortunately, Obama is right that there will be dopey Catholics who infer some sincere religious intent in Obama’s carrying a Miraculous Medal. We do indeed have to pray for Obama and for Congress, but we don't have to pay any attention to planted stories like this one.

It's all for show. First, I don't think his hands are that wrinkled. Second, Bush was a relatively private Christian, but the New guy (Zero) carries trinkets from every big religion except Islam around in his pocket every day???

For your discernment. If this is true, regardless of his reasons, we need to pray for him and the Congress.

Not necessarily. Only if his spirit and soul are congruent with the teachings of Catholicism, which we know are not, by his words and deeds. Otherwise he is using it like a voodoo medal, simply for its magical effect. I hope it will backfire on him.
