Abuse of Caucus [whiner's caucus]
Self | 22 Feb 2011 | Natural Law

Posted on 02/22/2011 2:53:04 PM PST by Natural Law

An alarming trend is developing in the Free Republic Religion Forum in which a caucus identifier is being claimed for non-existent or impossibly defined groups. With the caucuses being self defined we see nonsense like the Sola Scriptura Caucus. Of course it doesn’t mean all Scripture, only the thread initiators or Forum Moderators definition of Scripture. Jews who believe in the Scripture of the Old Testament are excluded. Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, and Jehovah’s Witnesses are excluded even though they believe in the sufficiency of their own versions of Scripture. The not so transparent purpose of these faux caucuses is clearly to exclude a group of FReepers in a modern day repetition of “Whites Only” and “Irish Need Not Apply” prejudice. If this is allowed to stand what will we see next; caucuses so narrowly defined so as to only include one’s bridge club or to exclude an individual FReeper? How about a caucus designation for everyone but citizens from New York? How about a men’s only caucus? How about a caucus for those of us who drive BMWs? And what is being discussed in these faux caucus threads? Critical doctrinal issues such as ruggedized aircraft, home schooling, and civil unrest in Egypt. Give me a break!

Not a big deal. I try to keep my facts in order, or my head tends to explode.
I have GOT to go do stuff, but in with the animosity there’s a lot of humor on this thread.
Everyone needs to laugh more.

Gee I was just getting to know you

Just eliminate the Religion Forum altogether. It was a bad idea in the first place, and it has arrived at the place where it was always destined to anyhow.

Oh, I dunno. Over the years that I've been here I have seen people come to the faith and grow in their faith. That must be worth something? After all, if all the angels in heaven rejoice, can't we?

Someone once said the church is like Noah's Ark. You can only stand the stench inside because of the storm outside.

We're not perfect, but where else would be be?

Why can’t Protestants have caucus threads? Why are you so threatened?

Ditto to you lead-in statement.

This is like anti-discrimination gone haywire. I don’t know who opened the can of worms, but in my opinion, it stinks.

Methodist Caucus
Presbyterian Caucus
Lutheran Caucus

Catholic Caucus

Catholic/Orthodox Caucus

I can even see reformed caucus (only 500 years old)

But the sola sciptura and bible caucuses are haywire — basically discrimantory in my opinion.

Amen Amen and Amen!

I pray that the RI Forum on FR brings many souls to Christ though we may never hear from them. In these critical times we live in the loss of a voice for Christ to the world would indeed be terrible.

I pray that those who Christ would call to be His would sense in the Spirit the truth and spirit of each poster to the RI forum. The call to come out of the world and it’s false doctrines is being sent by the living Christ to those God has given to His Son and the RI on FR is a voice that must not be silenced.

Some peoples’ swords don’t have two edges however.

It always cuts toward a specific group....more like a butcher knife to me.

It may have historical meaning, but is it a doctrine as defined by a real dictionary — not wiki.

Catholics do not get that even if Protestants have different particulars, we are Sola Scriptura, and Sola fide... Solo Christo,

Protestants know who they are ... so a protestant Caucus is just that

BECAUSE . . . ummmm

uhhh

because . . .

anything not from a Papal office is automatically evil.

or is it

anything not wrapped in White Hankys is intolerably evil.

or is it

anything not identical to an RC is frightful?

Out of 35 posts, 10 were made by one person. Amazing.

I believe the working theory is slinging mass quantities believing that some it will stick to, uh, something.

Used to be annoying - it's now just boring.
