I really appreciate it.
And my condolences, again, to his LibreOuMort.
Your husband will be missed.

Here’s where legacy.com either makes or breaks their reputation. They’d best come through and get the entries from the Guest Book on the Obit page that the Seattle Times set up replicated in the Memory Book on the Memorial Page that you set up. Bill wasn’t married to the Seattle Times, after all; they’re NOT family, and likely not even friends.

Dear one, I learned of your dear husband’s passing only today.
Having lost my own husband, I know all the turmoil you and your family are going through. You are all in my prayers and may you find comfort in your faith and in God.
Sincere condolences and hugs.

I just now found out of sionnsar’s passing.
I have enjoyed many a debate with him on various subjects. Often times we were on the same page, but alas there were times we disagreed. However whether we agreed or disagreed, we both treated each other with due respect.
My heart hurts for his absence and He will be missed, but he is in a much better place today. Absent from the body, but present with the Lord, and in the Lords care is where he will be forever.
God speed sionnsar, and may the Lord bless and protect those of your family who grieve the loss of your physical presence.

Sorry you've only just found out; it was a shock to all, and although efforts were made to ping everyone, it was perhaps inevitable that the goal was not 100% achieved.
See post 652 for a link to sionnsar's Memorial, set up by his wife, LibreOuMort.

Thanks, I did see the memorial. I ended up reading almost every comment on the thread up until early in the morning.
I even read many comments on the post about the
"Swedish flamingos massacred in frenzied anteater attack", because the whole incident with came about during the conversation of the thread.
I am not sure this will make his wife feel good or bad, but as I was reading the all the comments, I went back to reconstruct the timeline in my head to better understand the situation, and I realized that his last comment was below in the flamingo thread,

Rolling Rock is one of the few American beers I like (this category is not including microbrewery products). Was introduced to it by my father-in-law when I flew back East to ask his daughter's hand in marriage. Good stuff and like Vernor's Ginger Ale is now available on the West Coast (I endured over 3 decades without Vernor's!). Every time I hoist a Rolling Rock, I remember my father-in-law, may he rest in peace. He was a good man (and mentor) and we miss him.

It must have been shorty after he wrote that glowing tribute to his father-in-law that he started having breathing troubles.
Has anyone yet found out what it was that sent him into the terrible state he was in that forced him to go to the emergency room?
Either way, his last comment to us, is confirmation to us all that no matter how things are going in ones life, no matter what your mindset is, no matter what others think, we never know when God will call us home to Him. As a matter of fact, I remember a discussion on thread about faith we had a few years ago. A Freeper who was an atheist was denying the existence of God and claimed Christ was but a mere man who was made to be more than what he was by His followers. sionnsar commented to him,
"Christ was a man, but He was also God incarnate, and one day you will kneel down and confess to Him that He is Lord. It is imperative you believe in Christ as the Savior of the world, for you never know when the Lord will come. He told us that we must be prepared, because like like a thief in the night He could come for you when you least expect it. You deny him at your own peril"
I really do not remember the atheist Freepers name, and as I recall he made some smarmy remark and quit the thread. However, I will miss sionnsar's contribution to Free Republic, and his steadfast defense of the faith. We may not have agreed on all aspects of our faith, but we both agreed on the essentials that matter, and I always knew that he could be counted on, because he was a true warrior for Christ whom I enjoyed fighting beside.
So while I may have never met him in person, my heart does hurt for his absence. I will be comforted by the knowledge that I have had many good conversations with him through the years. I am also convinced and comforted by the knowledge that I know our dear departed FRiend is in the presence of our father in heaven.
I have had some troubles in the last few Months that have kept me from being online as much, and it was obviously one of those moments of physical anguish that kept me from learning about his passing. Maybe that is why it seems to bother me so much that he is gone. I also lost my oldest brother about the same time. Although my brothers passing was not unexpected like sionnsar's. The older we get, the more friends and relatives we lose. Such is life, and as member of FR since February 1998, I have made many FRiends, and alas I have lost many. The memories we have of eachother will last forever, or at least as long as the Lord allows them to last.
Thanks for the memories sionnsar, and tell our Lord that I too am coming one day, then I will finally be able to meet you in person.
OV, (
Chuck Wolk)

Sionnsar gone. Terrible. Prayers for everyone who knew him personally. He encouraged me to pursue learning the pipes. Even if I never learn, the fact that he was supportive stands out in my memory of him. Godspeed.

Thank you for sharing that. Seems lots of strife on FR lately, but it’s good to remember that this earth is nothing really, but a vapor, a moment, and then we will be in the presence of an almighty of such great wonder and love. I know his family misses him, but he was a man of great faith. Not only do they have that to hold onto, but he shared it, which is the Great Commission. Thank you for reminding us all.
God bless you FRiend. May you be covered in God’s Love today. Hugs.

Oh, just seeing this now. I remember Sionnsar with the Scottish ping list. I always pinged him when I’d seen he hadn’t been on a Scots related thread. Rest in peace, Sionnsar. I’ll miss you.

Beautifully written OV and thank you for sharing your memories. I’m saddened that I did not get a chance to interact with sionnsar; I do believe we did have one or two exchanges but that was the extent of it.
I will hold him and his family in prayer. From what you have written, it is obvious that he had accepted Christ as Savior and for that, I’m heartened. Like you, I know I will meet sionnsar one day in the Kingdom.
Also, I’m truly sorry for your own loss. My brother almost lost his life earlier this year from a life-long heart condition. I can’t imagine what you have been going through. Of course you will see him again; it’s the period ‘in-between’ that is so lonely, but at least we have the comfort of knowing, that one day, we will all be together again.
