Hurtling Towards Isaiah 17...

The burden against Damascus. “ Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17::1)

Like much of the Arab world, Syria is a nation in agony. The passions incited by the “Arab Spring” have been inflamed in Syria, as they have in the rest of the middle east. No one can fault the people of the region for longing to throw off the suffocating tyrannies that have held absolute rule over them for so long.

Through a ruthless willingness to crush all dissent, the late Hafez Assad and his son Bashir, have made of Syria a terrifying police state .The Assad’s are Alawite Muslims, ruling over the majority Sunni nation.

There have been uprisings before against the Assad regime, but always repressed without mercy. For six years starting in 1976, Muslim brotherhood- backed Sunni rebels resisted the Assad regime in a low level conflict. But in February 1982, the Syrian army was called out in full force, launching an attack on the town of Hama where the resistance originated. The ensuing massacre resulted in the slaughter of 35,000 to 40,000 Syrians!

Syria’s current violent repression of its own people, has been severely censured by her near neighbors, and by the wider world community. Because of the refugee crisis created by the Assad’s brutal crackdown on its own people, Turkey has threatened to intervene, and is currently holding military exercises all along the border with Syria as a saber-rattling exercise.

Assad of Syria and his advisers, know full well what the Europeans through NATO did to the Gaddafi regime of Libya, and is determined not to allow that to happen to his own.

Syria’s current “cornered animal” foreign policy is much like another Arab despot, the late Saddam Hussein. It consists of drawing out the “hate Israel card” in the face of international sanctions and threats, hoping to rally the sympathies of her Israel hating neighbors. Assad’s response to the west/Nato is to threaten to obliterate Tel Aviv!

Iran’s semi-official FARS news agency reported on Tuesday that Syrian President Bashar Assad issued a dark warning to western countries during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu, saying that if his regime comes under attack from NATO the way his colleague, ousted Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi did, he will fire missiles at Tel Aviv. “If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than 6 hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv,” Assad reportedly said. He added that he would demand of the Lebanese Shi’ite terror militia Hezbollah that they join in the attack. “All these events will happen in three hours, and in the following three hours, Iran will attack the US warships in the Persian Gulf and the US and European interests will be targeted simultaneously,” he concluded. Assad Threatens Tel Aviv

Israel has indicated that it will respond to an attack, with full force, threatening to bomb Gaza, Syrian and Hezbollah controlled Lebanon, and Damascus itself! This from a Lebanese source, Naharnet; Israel has warned Syrian President Bashar Assad that should Tel Aviv be attacked, then it will retaliate by bombing the Gaza Strip and the whole of Lebanon. Israel’s NFC website reported that the Jewish state’s government relayed this message to the Syrian president through European intelligence circles.

These sources said that seeing as Tel Aviv is Israel’s economic and financial hub, a retaliation for an attack against it, by Hizbullah, Hamas, or Syria, will not be limited to Syria, but all of Lebanon and Gaza.

NFC reported Israeli military circles as saying that the Jewish state’s message to Assad “is clear in that Damascus’ fate, should it be targeted, will not be different than Lebanon’s.”

Christian gentiles

Gentile means one that is not of the Covenant, not of the Promise. You might want to do a bit of studying.

Thanks Pastor Bill

Isa 17:3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.

???I think the fortress of Ephraim are now in the so called West Bank today???

1Ki 12:25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel. 1Ki 12:26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David: 1Ki 12:27 If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah. 1Ki 12:28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 1Ki 12:29 And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan. 1Ki 12:30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan. 1Ki 12:31 And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi. 1Ki 12:32 And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made. 1Ki 12:33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.

Shechem = Nablus
Penuel = Tulul adh-Dhahab
Bethel = Ramallah

Isa 17:13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Sounds very similar to part of Psalm 83

how people, including the gentiles, will seek individual Jews(this may include Christian gentiles, via the spirit of adoption) out for teaching and wisdom

I guarantee the sought out will not include gentiles and it will not include those who do not keep the Sabbath or YHVH Appointed Holy days as YHVH commanded.

the problem people have in reading

In the 1st century there were 2 things that did not exist. The christian church as we know it today that was established under Constantine & the New Testament. When the NT talks about the Gospels & the Scriptures they are talking about the only Gospels(5 Books of Moses/Torah/Law), the Prophets & the Writings that they had which also was the only dictionary they had. So everything, every jott, every tittle, every word in the NT must be defined using the Old Testament which is called the Tenakh and there has always exited a copy of it in Hebrew. There also does not exist one verse in the NT wherein the writers say they worship on Sunday. But because words were added by the RCC (who canonized the Scriptures) that do not exist in the original scrolls, thus by heresy they were able to falsely claim the Scriptures changed the Sabbath from the 7th day to the 1st day.

“Gentile means one that is not of the Covenant, not of the Promise”

No kidding, really?

‘After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen down. I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up, so that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord who does all these things. (Amos 9:11,12)

Now you do a little studying, oh wise one who “chokes on gnats and swallows camels”!

“Christian gentiles, via the spirit of adoption”

Perhaps I should made the wording clearer such as, those” of the gentiles, called by His name who have become children of Abraham by the spirit of Adoption”

As for the Sabbath, though Christ shall rule the Earth with a rod of Iron at that time, was it not Christ himself that said the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath? The 7th day was when the Lord rested from his creative labors, is not our Christ the Lord of the Sabbath?

Indeed, the true Israel of God will be with God for eternity. but i can assure, Israel is not comprised of people who reject Jesus and His sacrificial death and who share a certain DNA.

btw - Jesus is a King today and He rules His kingdom today.

I’m becoming about “dark threats” from the middle east like K was in MIB, “There’s always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!”

I just live for Jesus, in the center of His will as best this flawed human can, and trust in Him. His will is perfect and will be done. Even if I wanted to change that, I could not. So I trust Him and wait (anxiously) for Christ’s return.

I’m sure it’s a typo but I’ll fix it anyway.

Jesus is “a” King should be Jesus IS KING. King of kings, n fact. And He rules yesterday, forever and always.

i’m not sure what “modern replacement theology” is, i know historic Christianity has always taught the true Israel are descendents of Abraham by faith, not DNA.

Jesus is ruling today from spiritual Jerusalem, He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.Believers have been taken out of the kingdom of darkness into His Kingdom.

all kinds of false teaching begins with thinking Israel is comprised of physical Jews rather than spiritual believers in Christ.

last time i checked, Jesus is sitting on the throne in Jerusalem. those with spiritual eyes given to them by the Holy Spirit can see this, those still blinded by spiritual darkness can’t.

may i suggest everyone read what Peter said in Acts 2:14-36.

there are those that reject Jesus and His Church and teach we are still to keep the Sabbath and OT festivals. the problem is the Apostles and the Gospel they preached rejects this false teaching. The Church has been here since 33ad and Constatine had nothing to do with it. The Church was not keeping the Sabbath while Rome was persecuting Christians and it didn’t keep the Sabbath after Constantine stopped persecuting the Christians. maybe some would benefit from reading more of the early Church Fathers and less Dan Brown. ( and less of Ellen White )

Study what happens after the millenial reign, when Satan is loosed”for a season”. Even after Christ has ruled for 1000 years upon the Earth multitudes will still rise up against Christ and the Holy city and against his saints. 10 centuries of blessings and teachings but many will still harbor hardened hearts at the end of that time.

Now I get the difference between a “spiritual Israel”, that includes all of the redeemed of Christ, living and dead, from every tribe and tongue from Adam all the way up to some present day little girl who goes up to the altar at some “Salt and Light” community church because she wants to be saved and know Jesus, and physical Israel. The Bible talks about both existing in present as well as future times, with Christ the King ruling bodily on this Earth from Jerusalem, centered in present day Israel.

I agree. The fig tree is a fig tree, not Israel. Israel is elect by covenant and will see heaven.

Satan was bound at the cross. Jesus said the strong man must first be bound and then his house may be plundered. since Satan has been bound, the Church by the power of the Holy Spirit has been plundering his house for 2,000 years.
the Scriptures do tell us right before Jesus returns and the world ends, that Satan will be loosed for a time and there will be a great falling away, evil will abound and there will be great tribulation for the believers. i believe we are in that time period today. Jesus wondered when He returned would He find Faith on the earth and we are seeing His words played out before us daily as heresy and sin multiply.

Oh ye who over symbolize and over syllogize, of course Christ has always ruled, he was with the Father at the time of creation after all, per John chapter 1. God exists in present, past, future all at once. Yet physically his feet have not yet touched “down upon the mount causing it to split north to south.” Christ is coming back to rule bodily for a thousand years. Did not the angel say to the disciples, “in like manner that you saw him go, he shall come again”?

Paul converted the Gentiles.

If a Gentile believes, he is of a covenant. There are several covenants.

Israel is also in covenant with God in some configuration.
