Lord, we pray for those in our military who are returning from deployments in the Middle East. We ask that Your hand would be with them as they return to normal life, and bring them through any struggles they have. We pray also for their families, that You would give them understanding and comfort.
Father, we pray for Your children in Syria, that You would protect and console them. Lord, those who persecute them persecute You; defend Your church.
O LORD, You are mighty to save. By the Cross You redeemed us fully, taking away our punishment and turning back our enemy. Because You are with us the LORD our God, the King of Israel we do not need to fear. You quiet us with Your love, and You give us a hope that nothing can take away. Lord, You take great delight in us; You rejoice over us with singing. It amazes us that You the God who made all things should love us like this, and we submit our hearts to You in Jesus' Name, Amen.
Come and pray.
Just as her friends were doing, my daughter Melissa was busily preparing for adulthood. At school, she was getting ready for college by taking the right courses and had signed up for the ACT college entrance test.
Outside of class, Melissa was learning the socialization skills it takes to get along with people by spending time with friends, classmates, and teammates. At her job, she was learning the relational skills needed for a future career of work. At home, Mell was preparing for future family life by experiencing the way a Christian family would interact.
Getting ready for life as an adult takes work, and Melissa was making good progress.
But none of that preparation was what she would need. In 2002, when she died in a car accident at age 17, the only preparation that mattered was her readiness for heaven.
When the truest test of preparedness came so suddenly on that beautiful June eveningwhen eternitys door opened for Melissashe was prepared. She had put her faith in Jesus and trusted His sacrifice on the cross for her sins (John 3:16; Rom. 5:8-9).
When she faced the ultimate test of being prepared, Melissa was ready. Are you?

'The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy Spirit.
Grace be with you.' (2Tim.4:22)
Jesus replied, The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." (John 12:23-24)
