You, O LORD, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation. (Lamentations 5:19)

Dear Lord, we thank You for meeting our needs and giving us Your peace.

Father, we pray for our military, asking You to guide and guard their way. Broaden the path beneath their feet and make their road smooth.

Lord, we pray also for our leaders, as You commanded us to do. We seek Your help and Your mercy for all of them – even those who do not seek it for themselves.

O LORD, You reign forever, and Your dominion is everlasting. Years race by, centuries and millenia slip away – and You are always the same. Your power never ends, Your righteousness never fails. Earthly kingdoms rise and fall, the rulers of this world grow strong and die, but Your throne endures. From generation to generation, through all the uncountable years, You are God. No eye has seen, no mind has perceived, no ear has heard of any besides You. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End, and we pray to You in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.

We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Thank you for your constancy in prayer for our military. May all your prayers go up as a memorial offering before God.

What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.
