Pray for our American Heroes and Nation

For in this city there actually met and plotted together against Your holy Child and Servant Jesus, Whom You consecrated by anointing, both Herod and Pontius Pilate with the Gentiles and peoples of Israel, To carry out all that Your hand and Your will and purpose had predestined (predetermined) should occur. And now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants [full freedom] to declare Your message fearlessly, While You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus. (Acts 4:27-30, AMP)

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: military; pray; prayer
God, we celebrate today Your greatness. You are the Greater One and, by Your grace, we are in You! Hallelujah, what a wonderful salvation!

As we look at the things and people that surround us, we choose the encouragement of Your Word. (We choose life.) Knowing that the Greater One indwells us, we pray for the Christians in this Nation: Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants [full freedom] to declare Your message fearlessly, While You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus. We believe You to envelope our Nation in the saving power of Your Light, Your Truth and the enlightenment and conviction of Your Holy Spirit. God, bless America out of Your goodness.

We pray today for the military servants You have provided us. We continue to beseech You that not one would return home without hearing the Good News of Your salvation, accompanied by the work of Your Holy Spirit in each heart. All glory to the Holy One! Let Your grace, Your angels and Your love surround them and keep them from harm. By Your wisdom and understanding, cause them to conquer, Sir.

We honor You for all that You are and thank You so much for audience with You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Good Neighbor

June 20, 2012

In June 2011, when disastrous flood- waters chased residents of Minot, North Dakota, from their homes, the people of that community did what seemed to come naturally to them—they helped others who were in need. People from more than an hour away, without being asked, showed up to help. Some loaned their campers to those who lost their homes and others allowed their garages to be used for temporary storage. The people of North Dakota were showing what it means to be good neighbors.

As followers of Christ, being good neighbors—showing love to others—should come naturally to us as well (Matt. 22:39; John 13:35; 1 John 4:7-11). Even though we may not have the opportunity to respond in a dramatic way to a natural disaster, we can all look for ways to love those around us. To be good neighbors, we can show others mercy (Luke 10:29-37), treat others fairly (Lev. 19:13-18; James 2:1-8), speak to others truthfully (Eph. 4:25), and forgive others completely (Eph. 4:32; Col. 3:13).

Christians can be the best neighbors around because our love for others flows out of the life of the ultimate neighbor—Jesus Christ—who loved and sacrificed His life for us.

Oh, to be like Him, tender and kind,
Gentle in spirit, lowly in mind;
More like to Jesus, day after day,
Filled with His Spirit now and alway. —Ellsworth
Our love for Christ is only as real as our love for our neighbor.

Read: Luke 10:29-37

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. —1 John 4:11
