We bless the LORD, and all that is within us, bless His holy name! We bless the LORD, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all our iniquities, Who heals all our diseases, Who redeems our life from destruction, Who crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies our mouth with good things, so that our youth is renewed like the eagles.
As we pray for our American military today, Lord, we thank You and put You in remembrance of Your Word: You, LORD, execute righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. This includes our military men and women and the peoples in the lands where they are stationed. Make known Your ways and acts to them. You, Lord, are merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. You do not deal with them according to their sins, nor punish them according to their iniquities, because You already dealt with our sins and iniquities on Jesus cross.
Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. We charge you, angels, to protect and defend our military men and women as it is written, For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
We also pray for our Nations judges and ask You to be with them in judgment as in times past, Take heed to what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment. (2 Chronicles 19:6)
Today we ask You for calling enough intercessors to turn our Nation to one that honors and abides in You and Your ways of doing and being right.
We do bless You from all that is within us this day and submit this petition in the name of Jesus, our High Priest. Amen.
During the months following the death of my wifes mother, we received a number of cards and letters from the hospice team who had so lovingly cared for Mom and walked with our family along the pathway of loss. One letter offered thoughts on dealing constructively with grief. Another said, As the date of your mothers birthday approaches, we remember her, and our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. These wonderful caregivers know that grieving is an ongoing process that requires continuing help and support. They exhibit deep compassion in all they do.
Pauls words Bear one anothers burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Gal. 6:2) come as an exclamation point to his description of life in the Spirit. In contrast to the destructive, self-centered acts of the sinful nature (Gal. 5:19-21), the fruit of the Holy Spirit in and through us is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (vv.22-23). The great freedom we have in Christ allows us to serve each other in love (v.13).
A word of encouragement to a hurting friend can come like a refreshing rain. When we continue to care in tangible ways, it grows into a life-giving stream of healing and love.
