This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.” (Isaiah 48:17-18)

Dear God, as we come to You in prayer, we thank You for everything You have given us.

Lord, we pray for those in our military who have been wounded. Encourage them, help them to endure, and provide for them anything they need.

Father, we ask You to send rain on our country, especially those parts suffering from drought or intense heat. You, Lord, give rain to the righteous and the unrighteous; please, then, send rain to us.

LORD, You are our God; You teach us what is best for us, and You direct us in the way we should go. You are our Redeemer, our Maker, and You know what You have made us for. If we will listen to Your commands, our peace will be like the river, our righteousness like the waves of the sea. You are our goodness, our happiness, our glory; give us grace to submit to You and walk in Your path—and we will find rest for our souls. We honor You, the Holy One of Israel, in the Name of Jesus Christ our risen Lord, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
