A good sign that the medicine is starting to work.
Certainly it is discrimination and it is a good thing.
Discrimination is a fact of life. One must discriminate on a daily basis.
A wise parent teaches his children to discriminate early in life. You want your children to discriminate when making friends. You want your children’s friends to be polite and not to be trouble makers.
In your own life you choose not to have friends that are drug users or felons. You wisely discriminate against having friends that are violent or may bring you in to disrepute.
When you marry you choose a person of the opposite sex; you discriminate against your own sex when choosing a spouse. It is discrimination and it is the proper thing to do.
Just curious...how many of these minors were female?
If statistics are consistent, I would say probably about 1 or 2 out of the 26 abused females.
A more pertinent quesiton would be how many of those allegations alleged abuse took place by priests while Cordileone was the bishop there (and how did he deal with those allegations). An even more pertinent question will be how many priests ordained by Cordileone while bishop of Oakland will go forward to abuse minors (of either sex).
Of course, we won't have the answer to the second pertinent question for several decades.

Let us offer a Memorare to the Blessed Mother for Archbishop Cordileone. And...
Our Lord asks us to pray for His priests not judge them.
They are Satan’s target, above all. Why wouldn’t they be,
They are the means to God’s greatest graces.
There are sexual predators in all walks of life, recent findings show most of them are homosexual not pedophile. Homosexuals have many perversions.
I notice in the Religion Forum, quite a lot of threads
attacking the Priesthood, remember Our Lord’s request.
I read Father Vogel is up for canonization.

For decades, the Vatican has appointed bishops to San Francisco (actually, the nation’s most conformist city, since it strictly adheres to whatever is considered PC at the moment) who were weak and really weren’t going to challenge the situation. We can see how well that worked out: all that came out of it was an unrestrained, more powerful gay/PC movement. It also left decent, faithful Catholics in SF feeling completely abandoned (I know, because I lived there for years, under two different dysfunctional bishops).
This is a different approach. I hope Cordileone lives up to his name, because they are going to attack him with everything they’ve got.
“With GOD all things are possible” — even repentance, healing, and Christian revival in a den of iniquity like San Francisco.
He will live up to his name.
Please remember him in prayer.
He is going to need it.

If you are a Godless heathen and don’t believe in salvation through Christ why would a Catholic Archbishop be getting your panties in a bunch?

I am not a Catholic but even I know that is really an impossibility. “Catholics for Marriage Equality” would not be Catholics at all.
