I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me. (Psalm 17:6-9)

Father in heaven, we thank You for this day and for every good and perfect gift.

Father, we pray that, during this turmoil in the Middle East, You will protect our military from the wicked who assail them, from their enemies who surround them. We remember also their families, who wait with such fear and hope, and pray that You would be with them, too.

Lord, we ask You to give our leaders wisdom about what to do concerning the trouble in Libya. Please restore peace to that country, and comfort the families of those who were murdered.

We call on You, O God, for You will answer us; give ear to us and hear our prayer. Father, You cause Your sun to shine on the evil and the good, and send rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. You save by Your right hand those who take refuge in You from their foes, and You never forsake those who trust in You. Show us the wonder of Your great love; keep us as the apple of Your eye, and hide us in the shadow of Your wings. We hope in Your love, and pray to know it more and more, in the Name and through the grace of Jesus our Savior, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

SPecial prayers for my hero. We are taking dad to see the WWII memorial tomorrow. (honor flight) It will be a long day. Leave house by five and back close to midnight. Family from PA, NC and maybe MI will also be traveling to form an honor guard (surprise) to greet him...Travel mercies for all.
