Pray For Our American Heroes and Our Nation

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Psalm 127:1 (KJV)
----

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: military; pray; prayer; troops
Heavenly Father –

Unless You build the house, we labor in vain that build it. Unless You keep the city, the watchmen wake in vain. May we return to the faith of our founders, who laid the foundation of our nation built on Your Wisdom and in reverence for Your Word. May You keep our cities in the land as Your servants watch day and night for danger, domestic or abroad.

Hear our prayers to lift up our leaders in all levels of government and turn their hearts to do Your will. Watch over our “watchmen” - the brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe.

May we look to You to rebuild our house - our country - on Your sure foundation of solid rock. May we look to You for help and not look to the worldly wisdom built on shifting sand. We are comforted to know that You never slumber or sleep as You watch over Your own.

Pour out Your Spirit on the people and give us repentance to confess our sins and get our hearts in a right relationship with You. May we be filled with Your Spirit to become the Shining City on the Hill – but may that light be the light that reflect Your Light.

In Jesus Name

Amen

1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 121 (KJV)

Stand Fast

Am I standing in my own way, Lord?
Or, am I standing in Your Will?
Am I walking the right path, Lord?
Or, just, standing still?

Should I be seeking other doors?
Other walks, for The Light?
Or is this where I’m needed now?
My guard post in the night.

Thank You, for Your Trust in me
To keep me standing fast
May we guard these hearts, as needed
‘Til You call us Home at last.

AMEN! We need to raise up a platoon of prayer warriors to pray back our country. We are no longer worthy of the name we bear as Americans, as we are no longer a free country, we are no longer a just country, or a Christian one. I am not referring to Obama’s statement, but just the observation that we are self-centered and lawless, full of false pride and lust. God will not “save” us if we are going to go on so arrogantly and flaunt our sin in His face. Some of us have to be willing to repent in order for God to look on us favorably. If we refuse to repent, a notion that has lost favor publicly, then we will face judgement as a nation and if we think it is bad now, we will be even more frightened in that day.

Help Yourself

January 4, 2013

Recently, I saw a television ad for a restaurant chain that made a dramatic claim. At those restaurants, the ad said you could “Help Yourself to Happiness.” Wouldn’t it be nice if a helping of potatoes or meat or pasta or dessert would be all that was needed to provide happiness? Unfortunately, no restaurant can fulfill that promise.

Happiness is an elusive thing—as we can see in almost every area of life. Our pursuit of happiness may involve food or a host of other things, but, in the end, happiness continues to escape our grasp.

Why? In large measure it’s because the things we tend to pursue do not touch the deepest needs of our hearts. Our pursuits may provide moments of enjoyment, distraction, or pleasure, but the cry of our hearts goes unheard—the cry for help and hope. That is why the psalmist points us to a better way when he says, “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God” (Ps. 146:5).

Help yourself? Yes—if we are seeking the happiness found in the Lord. It is only when we entrust ourselves to God and His care that we can find the happiness we seek. Our hope and help are found only in trusting Him.

Father, draw me to Yourself. Remind me that only
in You will I know the real joy and satisfaction that
my heart longs for. Help me to look beyond the
surface things of life to what really matters.
The one who puts God first will have happiness that lasts.

Read: Psalm 146

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God. —Psalm 146:5

Genesis 10-12; Matthew 4

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
