Pope Francis has directed the bishops of Argentina, his home country, to govern the Church there following a document that makes clear that holy communion should be disallowed for any person who facilitates abortion, including politicians.
These are the guidelines we need for this time in history, the pope wrote to the bishops.
According to LifeSiteNews, Pope Francis emphasized use of the Aparecida Document as a framework in a letter to the Argentine Assembly of Bishops sent in late March. In 2007, then-Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio--now Pope Francis--first presented the document on behalf of the bishops of Latin America.
Cardinal Bergoglio was highly critical of those who promoted the death sentence of abortion for unborn children in Argentina. His criticism peaked following a clandestine abortion performed on a mentally disabled woman with the assistance of the nations health minister.....

Maybe this was brewing before he became Pope.
He’ll probably tell the same to the new bishop in Oakland, CA. That’s some undertaking, given the “progressive” politics of the region.
I hope Chief Justice John Roberts is the very first person in the U.S. to be denied communion. The traitor.
were they?
If so therein lies a huge credibility problem for the Pope
.....Or rather it MAY get those CINOS to do a little thinking and doing some repenting.
But now that this Pope has settled in, the rules ARE GOING TO BE ENFORCED.
Conservatives have the Tea Patty!
This is from a letter he wrote in 2007 to his fellow bishops when he was archbishop of BA.
When it was ignored, there was no followup.
He certainly has it within his authority to order this in Argentina, or worldwide, but that has not happened.
In truth, the Church is being faithful to the Gospel of Jesus by taking a stand against abortion.
Conservatives have, the Tea Party, correction!
If it happens, it will NEVER be reported.
> I dont see why they would want to take communion. What purpose does it serve them?
Obviously you don’t understand the lib mentality. They won’t want something until you deny it to them otherwise they would simply ignore it because most are now atheist. It’s just the way they are wired. The good thing about this is is you can pull a Briar Rabbit on them and trick them into walking into the briar patch.
Yes, it is time for all the phony Catholics to split away and form their own “Church of Progressivism” where they can worship and pray over what “the meaning of ‘is’ is”. However, since they do not believe in the truth, they will have no liturgy. They can just make one up as they go along and “progress”.
Maybe we should send this article to our favorite American bishop who sees it fit to allow these politicians to receive communion.
I think I’ll send it to Cardinal Dolan.....
I’ll believe the rules are going to be enforced when they are actually enforced. I’m afraid Pope Francis may be just talking a good game and completely unwilling to put his muscle behind his voice. The Biden/Pilosi disgrace is only an example of his “all hat, no cattle” oversight. If he lacked the courage to enforce what he believes is right in his own bailiwick, how can he even begin to expect others will listen to him on this point.
You are exactly correct. Until there’s action in America, the financial source of abortion around the world, this pope seems much more a placeholder than activist.
It just broke my heart to see Joe Biden welcomed as an honored visitor to St. Patrick's Cathedral on Palm Sunday of this year. I am hoping when Cardinal Dolan met with him for coffee after Mass he spoke bluntly about never presenting himself to Communion again unless he goes to confession and promises to stop supporting abortion rights.
It’s not activism. It’s him doing his job.
For decades now the Church has spiraled away from it’s teachings. Over the years I have had debates with many faithful Catholics that seem to have a willful mental block over the fact that everyone from a smalltown priest to the Pope is in direct violation of the book they claim to hold dear and the God they claim to serve each and every time they sit silently.
Throughout every place in America, politicians Grandstand on abortion and homosexuals and then hit the pews every Sunday . Since this has gone on for decades, it is not arguable as an botheration.
Now if people were honest with themselves, they would note that by continuing to fund the priests and church that ignores these pols’ actions, they are in fact contributing to the problem.
It never was the job of the church to to make feel good heavenly promises to little old ladies on Sunday. The job is to preach the word of God and ‘shepard’ the ‘flock’ when they goio astray. Well the shepards seem to bee off duty since about the late 50s entirely (hello Kennedys).
I also get railed (and will here I’m sure) for saying this publicly because cafeteria Catholics want to pretend they are liberal.
If the Pope, Cardinals, Bishops and Priests wish to continue furthering the cause of abortion and homosexuality through their inaction and excuses for doing exactly NOTHING when it concerns reining in the catholic politicians legislating it, What am I to believe other than they follow God’s word only when they feel like it?
I’d like my faith, the one I was raised in, back. I want nothing to do with the mess they made of it. And I hope this Pope shares that mindset.

botheration = ABHORation
Our notion of Communion is a works by your definition. BTAIM, pro-aborts who claim to believe in the real presence of the Lord in the Sacrament either suffer fro cognitive dissonance or are liars. If they do not voluntary abstain from receiving, then they lose all claim to be Catholics. We will soon see what the Democratic leader of the House and the Vice-president do. They and the former governor of Pennsylvania. Tom Ridge, who contributed materially to the slaughter of infants in his state.
