May we thank our heroes, who serve and sacrifice to keep us safe, home and abroad.
May we never forget them and be inspired by them
like Audie Murphy
who, as the least likely of young recruits,
became the most decorated US combat soldier of World War II.

Heavenly Father –

As Armed Forces Day approaches, may we continued to pray for our heroes – past, present, and those yet to come – and not forget their sacrifices, many who have paid the ultimate price by giving their lives. May we appreciate their commitment to their duty as they put themselves in harm’s way to preserve our way of life, especially the freedom to worship You and do the right thing.

May we remember our past to draw courage to meet today’s daunting challenges. One such story, Audie Murphy’s story resonates as an underdog, who came from humble beginnings. Born during difficult economic times and into a tragic family situation, Audie Murphy possessed no obvious greatness from outside appearances. Yet, this young man was used mightily during World War II as he demonstrated heroics on the battlefield beyond anyone’s imagination.

Likewise, when dedicated to a just cause and guided by Your Providence, many soldiers – many unsung – have risen to face formidable foes, overcome terrible odds, and performed extraordinary feats of valor.

We ask, Father, that Your grace will continue to equip men and women to serve not only as warriors in our armed forces, but also as spiritual warriors as well, where the most critical of battles are fought. With the power of the Holy Spirit, may all those who call upon Your Name fight for the soul of our nation - to preserve our spiritual inheritance for the coming generations yet to be born.

Keep all Your servants in your special care.

IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation. From the brave, untrained volunteers who strode into Valley Forge that Winter arose the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, world-wide defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants



AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and envelop them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission.
